Wonderful, Wavy, Weightless Locks

I know summer is coming when the girls break out bright wispy dresses, colorful Havaianas and start wearing their hair naturally wavy.
In anticipation of the summer months, I’ve tucked away my hair dryers and straightening irons as I will only be sporting quick and easy hairstyles. Who wants to be inside primping when they can be outside soaking up the sun instead?
For the past month, I’ve been testing various hair lotions, creams and serums to find the best products that create beautiful beachy waves. After several weeks of goop-filled hair and a couple of painful hits to the wallet, I’m happy to report that I was able to find three products that deliver what their packaging promises.
My picks for creating the perfect summer waves are Pureology Essential Repair Leave-In Conditioner, TRESemme Touchable Curls Shaping Milk and Frederic Fekkai Coiff Bouffant Lifting Texturing Spray Gel.

I treated myself to a half-head of highlights last month and I want to prevent my expensive investment. I trust the Pureology line to protect both the salon-deposited hues and my hair’s new chemically-treated texture.
I think of Pureology EssentialRepair Leave-In Conditioner ($28 US) as the daily sun block for my hair. After shampoo and conditioner, I apply a dollop of this leave-in conditioner to towel dried hair. Pureology EssentialRepair Leave-In Conditioner’s protein rich formula reinforces distressed hair and fortifies against damage while protecting color vibrancy.
Ingredients in this magical potion include soy milk, vitamins C, E and H, chamomile, antioxidants and UVA/UVB sunscreens. You’d never know this leave-in conditioner is so dense with goodies by its ultra-lightweight texture.
One of my beauty pet peeves is crunchy hair. I think it’s because it brings back memories of junior high of girls with teased up bangs, crusty hard curls and neon-colored hair gel. TRESemme Touchable Curls Shaping Milk ($5 US) is the anti-thesis of all that.
This inexpensive, salon-quality product works best if your hair already has a natural wave or curl. TRESemme Touchable Curls Shaping Milk defines locks of wavy hair while keeping them touchable, soft and frizz-free.

If you’re looking for more defined waves, hold and volume, Frederic Fekkai Coiff Bouffant Lifting Texturing Spray Gel ($23 US) is for you.
I used this instead of my daily Touchable Curls Shaping Milk for a wedding in Los Angeles last week. Frederic Fekkai Coiff Bouffant Lifting Texturing Spray Gel kept my wavy tendrils intact through 80+ degree heat and hectic errand running.
Although it is pricey, the spray gel distributes well and does not require a lot of product for pronounced styling. I used no more than five spritzes for my thick hair. This is spray is an excellent daily option if you don’t mind the stiffness of traditional gel or mousse.

I’m making the transition to wavy myself… thanks tons for the recs. I’ve been running through drugstore products like mad! I haven’t tried the Tresemme yet, though… I hope it works for me as well as it did for you! I have huge problems with frizz – do you think it will work?

I would die for hair as wavy and gorgeous as yours so I can try this over the summer. Unfortunately my locks are thin, whimpy and straight – blah
