Brighten Up with CoverGirl Exact Eyelights

The dreary weather streak in San Francisco is still going on strong so I’m trying my darndest to take the situation into my own hands and create a bright aura for myself.  Take that Mother Nature!  I won’t let your clouds put a damper on my summer.

With CoverGirl’s new Exact Eyelights Eyeshadows ($7.49 US), I can remedy the bleakness that surrounds me and look beautiful on a budget – nothing can really beat that  ;)

CoverGirl Exact Eyelights is a new collection of shadows, eyeliners and mascaras featuring shades that are expertly put together to bring out the natural color of your eyes to help define and make them appear brighter.

Now my eyes are brown but I opted for Exact Eyelights Eyeshadow for Hazel eyes.  The colors are warm and matched well with my skin tone so I thought, why not break the rules a little bit?  The pale seafoam green was also more enticing than the grays and browns offered for us gals with brown eyes.

I really like CoverGirl and find that it’s really a great brand for the money that you spend.  However, like most brands with multiple colors in palettes, some of the shades in this set worked better for me than others.

With the brush that was included in Exact Eyelights, all the shadows were soft and easy to work with except for the color I was most excited about – the pale green.   I had to try and layer lots to get any color payoff because it seemed that it liked the brush more than my eyelids, boo.

Here’s how I wore these shadows made for Hazel eyes:  I started by applying the lightest beige to the browbone.  Next I applied the pale green to the inner half of my lids.  On the outer half of my lids, I applied the muted stone shade (I’m in LOVE with this one for the color and super soft texture!).

Finally with a crease brush, I applied a very minimal amount of the darkest brown to my crease.  Keeping in mind that I wanted a light and airy look, I laid off on the dark brown but I should note that this one is pretty pigmented and you can create a day smokey eye with it.

To finish the eyes, I lined my upper lashline with Exact Eyelights Eyeliner for Hazel Eyes in Majestic Jade ($7 US) and applied a little bit of basic brown liner to the lower lashline.

Keeping with the recessionista-friendly look, I used CoverGirl Simply Ageless Sculpting Blush in Rich Cinnamon ($11 US) on my cheeks and swiped CoverGirl Wetslicks Amazemint Gloss in Everything’s Rosy ($4 US), one of my favorite drugstore glosses, on my lips.

I hope everyone’s having a great Friday so far and that your weather is better than ours is right now.  But if you’ve got a little gloom in your area, tell us what makeup products or colors you love to wear to boost your mood.  :)
