Opposites Attract with NARS Fall 2009
“For this collection, I wanted to create something fragile and strong, and seductive but not aggressive,” said Francois Nars, creator of NARS Cosmetics. The new Fall 2009 Color Collection recreates fall runways with boldness and femininity. Strength and refinement are key to getting the look!
Trendy, dark lips are usually all the rage for fall seasons but NARS Lipstick in Fast Ride ($24 US) gives a nice alternate option. Sheer plum lips flatter, but stay day appropriate. For the risk taker, but not the dare-devil!
Sultry bedroom eyes are modern and yet edgy. Light and dark mingle on your eyelids to contour and highlight. I love the model’s look here. Recreate it by framing your eyes with pale pinks and rose with NARS Eye Shadow Duo in Silk Road ($32 US) and NARS Single Eye Shadow in Mekong ($22 US). The coffee color with gold shimmer is intense, sparkly, and unique, enchanting the senses for all.
To complete your fall look, try black amethyst nails instead of jewels. NARS Nail Polish in Tokaido Express ($16 US) is more chic than black, making it the ultimate fall accessory.

this is awesome–i am always worried about looking masculine when i do harsh make-up and harsh expressions but this is a good compromise…like a porcelain doll with a wuthering stare

Hey! I love Nars fall – probably the first Nars collection that has gotten me excited since I laid eyes on Jolie Poupee this past holiday.
I picked up two duos last week – silk road and brumes. Silk road is divine. Two neutral, pinky shades and the darker rose shade has the most perfect gold flecks. It isn’t glitter – just sparkle. I love it. Brumes is fab too – the blue shade is stunning. I can’t wait to do a smokey eye with it.
The lipstick sold out really fast I hear – but I am not interested in it. I feel like I have shades like that already – so clearly I like it:)

Hi Laurie!
I’m glad you like this collection! I agree that the NARS Eyeshadow Duo in Jolie Poupee is gorgeous. Who can resist purples?
Great to hear that you love those duos! They’re definitely inspirational.
Well, the lipstick is really versatile, so I’m not suprised that it sold out quickly. What’s your ideal dupe of it, since you have shades like that?

Hey Crystal!
For me – Fast Ride looks like Kirsch mattene from MAC’s cult of cherry, and the gloss dupe would be MAC’s (also LE, also Cult of Cherry) Jampacked and Clinique’s longlast glosswear in Blackberry bloom.
Fast Ride may be slightly more purple than Kirsch – but I’m thinking it all depends on natural lip tone.

Hey Laurie!
That’s great that you found a dupe! More money saved to purchase other goodies, right?

Haha, for sure! I am really interested in trying Nars new sheer glow foundation. I saw it up on Nordstrom’s Web site – will wait to see in-store though:)

Oooh, I saw that too! It looks fab for lighter coverage! I don’t usually wear foundation though, but it looks great for the natural look!

Ack Laurie and Crystal, you’ve got me thinking about Cult of Cherry now. I gotta dig out my Jampacked and rock it ASAP
