Mascara Solutions for Every Lash Type

woman-applying-mascara.jpg

I have a deep love/hate relationship with my eyelashes. I adore them for being long, thick, and dark, but I hate them for growing downwards. This makes mascara an absolute necessity for me. It’s the only way to hold the curl that my trusty Shu Uemura lash curler gives me.

I’ve tried many mascaras, both drugstore and high end, to find the perfect match for me. Like the perfect black dress, a good mascara is forever.  To help find a good mascara that works for you, check out our guide to mascara for all lash types.

Scenario 1: Like me, you have long, thick, and dark lashes but you want curl and lift.

Rx: My personal favorite is Stila MAJOR Major Lash Mascara ($22 US). It’s absolutely the best for curling, lifting, and volumizing.

Try the new Anastasia Lash Lifting Mascara ($22 US) which uses hard wax to help keep the curl and create volume. Lashes will be lifted up, up, and away!

Maybelline Sky High Curves Mascara ($3.99 US) is the classic drugstore curling mascara. The pretty sky blue tube just looks like it’ll lift your lashes up, right? The perfect 30 degree curve can be achieved without paying an arm and a leg.

Scenario 2: You are blessed with a thick row of lashes, but they’re short and stubby. You want lashes long enough to bat with!

Rx: CoverGirl LashBlast Length ($7.49 US), a brand-new edition to the popular LashBlast family, will give you up to 80% longer lashes.  The new Super-Length brush will help with precision application and give you clump-free lashes. Get yours in-stores beginning in September or presale your tube on August 17, 2009 here.

NARS Larger Than Life Lengthening Mascara ($25 US) has a conical brush and, with vitamin E, it will give your lashes the support to stay impossibly long all day. I love the chic tube; like all of NARS packaging, it’s modern yet timeless.

Smashbox Lash DNA Mascara ($19 US) curls and lengthens at the same time. The short brush ensures that not a single lash is missed.  With proteins that heal lashes, it’s so technological!

Scenario 3: You have lengthy long lashes that make others swoon. Too bad you only have about five lashes to frame each eye.

Rx: Lancome HYPNÔSE DRAMA Instant Full Body Volume Mascara ($24.50 US) delivers the volume you crave with its new S-shaped brush! Perfect for reaching every lash, it’ll grab and coat your lashes and give you gorgeous peepers.

CoverGirl LashBlast Luxe Shimmer ($8.49 US) combines your old favorite LashBlast formula with special shimmery bits to enhance your eyes. You’ll love the effect when you hypnotize everyone with your stare.

Scenario 4: You want everything you can get out of a mascara – length, volume, and curl.

Rx: Urban Decay Skyscraper Multi-Benefit Mascara ($22 US) can do it all, except maybe bake you a cake.  Although I wish it could, I’m grateful that it helps condition your lashes while rocking out your lashes. Pitch black, funky, and healthy? This is the icing on that imaginary cake!

Scenario 5: I’m looking for the best all-natural mascara for my sensitive eyes.

Rx: Physician’s Formula Organic Wear Mascara ($7.96 US) will give you the fringe you only wished you were born with! The 100% all-natural mascara will be completely safe to put near your eyes.

Korres Abyssinia Oil Volumizing Mascara ($20 US) is the all-natural solution to colorful lashes. It comes in four pretty colors to complement.  You won’t have to worry about synthetic dyes either.  ;)
