Straighten Up with Redken Sheer Straight

Redken Sheer Straight Gel

My hair is already straight so when I style my locks in the morning, I usually don’t require more than a paddle brush when I blow dry my hair to keep it straight.

However, Orange County weather has been a little more humid than I’m used to and by mid-day, my hair’s got a slight wavy kink in it.

For the past few days, I’ve been trying out Redken’s new Sheer Straight 06 Lightweight Straightening Gel ($15 US) to see if my hair style can hold up to near 90-degree weather and afternoon mugginess.

Mineral Lovers Beware! Laura Mercier Addiction Ahead

LM Mineral Pressed Powder

Last week, I was browsing the makeup counters in Nordstrom with a plan to buy something new.  Instead of acting on impulse, I sensibly decided to purchase a powder, since I was running out.

Powder is important since it keeps me from looking shiny, but I always want one that’s good for my skin. Minerals and SPF were the obvious way to go.

MAC Make-Up Art Cosmetics Fall 2009: As Seen By Richard Phillips

MAC Fall 2009 Richard Phillips promo

The most wearable of season’s Make-Up Art Cosmetics collection comes from renowned painter Richard Phillips.  This set features a full array of eye shadow palettes, cheek colors and a complete selection of lipsticks and lip glasses.

Racy, hyper-glam images revved-up in a modern take on vintage magazine pages, transformed into a super-vixen collection of colour for eyes, lips and cheeks. Paint it bigger-than-life with style and sensuality.

Softer than what you’d expect for fall, Make-Up Art Cosmetics Collection as seen by Richard Phillips features three limited edition 4-shadow palettes in gold, violet, and green sets ($36 US each).

MAC Make-Up Art Cosmetics Fall 2009: As Seen By Marilyn Minter

MAC Marilyn Minter promo

Part two of MAC’s Make-Up Art Cosmetics collection for fall as seen by photographer Marilyn Minter features a smattering of glitz and glimmer to create one-of-a-kind looks to inspire the ultimate individualist within.

Erotic imagery that zooms in on a dappled, glittered eye, or a silverized stiletto splashing in the mud from this Whitney Biennial Artist. Push the Edge Pigment and Fuchsia Glitter have the power to make anyone feel like they WILL be seen – and desired.

I personally can’t pull the kind of look the model in the promotional image is rockin’ but I certainly can try to mute my statement with something a little bit more my style like Cocomotion pigment ;)
