What to Pack: Special Occasion Travel Babe

summer-travel-special-occasion-babe-promo.jpg

It’s no surprise that the beautiful days of summer make up the peak season for matrimonial unions.  Each summer, I travel to at least two weddings during the marital high season.

Packing for these special event trips involves a higher degree of difficulty because you can’t get away with tossing your daily makeup essentials into a bag and go.When traveling to attend special events, you need to pack the best to look your best.

Here’s what I’ll be packing for an upcoming wedding in Newport Beach, California:

The Napoleon Perdis Miracle Makers Mini Brush Set ($99 US) is an absolute must-have if you want a flawless makeup application.  This kit comes with seven mini brushes hidden in a stylish textured pouch.

The Miracle Makers Mini Brush Set comes with: Foundation Brush, Blush Brush, Lip Brush, Concealer Brush, Slant Liner Brush, Blend Brush and Shadow Brush.  Unlike other brush sets (both full-sized and minis), I actually use every one of these brushes.  The high quality fibers of these little wonders make beautifying oneself a breeze.

If the $99 price tag is too steep, Essence of Beauty makes a Makeup Brush Travel Kit for a wee bit under $10 US.

Beautiful makeup will require an equally beautiful mane.  If you want to indulge your hair for the special occasion, pick up Philip B. Travel Hair Kit ($30 US).  The portable five piece kit comes with four 2 oz. versions of Philip B. favorites: Peppermint & Avocado Volumizing & Clarifying Shampoo, African Shea Butter Gentle & Conditioning Shampoo,  Nordic Wood Hair & Body Shampoo, Light-Weight Deep Conditioning Crème Rinse all tucked into a reusable see-through pouch.

To style my pampered tresses, I’ll use fashion show staple Bumble & Bumble’s Spray de Mode ($15 US).  Spray de Mode’s flexible hold and heat-style friendly properties will maintain desired style without the helmet-head effect.  The miniature 4 oz. size can be tucked into any beauty emergency kit.

Remember to pack a good makeup primer to keep makeup polished, flawless and long-lasting.  Prescriptives Flawless Face Primer ($27 US) is an oil-free, non-acnegenic, ophthalmologist and dermatologist-tested primer that just won the 2009 Self Healthy Beauty award.

Jouer Cosmetics’ unique connectable color collection eliminates the makeup bag altogether and makes it the ultimate portable beauty essential.  Jouer evolves past the typical refillable compact of other brands’ customizable kits and lets beauty addicts pick and choose the exact colors they want.

Most of Jouer’s color collection slips into each other to create a truly customized palette.  Jouer custom palette options range from eye shadows ($20 US), blushes ($24 US), lip glosses ($20 US), concealers ($24 US) to face powders ($30 US).

Last but not least, bring Q-Tips ($1.20 for a purse pack) cotton swabs.  Q-Tips makes a convenient (and refillable) Purse Pack that holds 30 cotton swabs that should last you through your trip.

Before discovering the respectable Purse Pack, I’d pack a handful in a small sandwich bag and use them to create smoky eyes, clean up loose eye shadow pigments, remove stubborn eyeliner, tidy up unruly lip glosses and use them for nail polish touch-ups.  Oh, and of course you can use them for your ears too.  :)

What about you?  What beauty products are must-haves for your suitcase?
