Favorite Beauty Things: Highlighters!

Blushes are beautiful for adding color to your face for a healthy glow. But highlighters create dimension to give me an extra special oomph! I love shimmer, glitter, and sparkle so it’s natural that I collect them, right?

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Warmed (discontinued): It’s the ultimate goldeny bronze shimmer. I love the texture of Mineralize Skinfinishes; they’re smooth and blend perfectly. MSFs always look like works of art with all the lovely swirls and mixes. Try Gold Deposit ($27 US) from MAC’s current offering.
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Gold Spill (discontinued): A pale beige highlighter that looks amazing all over. The color really flatters medium complexions. The only gripe I have is that the texture is slightly gritty. For something similar, try Light Medium from the Natural MSF set.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Triple Fusion (discontinued recently; may be at your local counter): Here’s my initial review on this beautiful trio of colors! The colors are superb, and the pigmentation on this specific MSF still amazes me. Try Smooth Merge from the MSF Trio set for something similar.

Benefit High Beam ($24 US) is the most subtle silvery champagne color. Benefit High Beam is also very multi-purpose; I like using it on my collarbone, cheeks, brow bone, and nose. Since the shimmer is very fine, it’s impossible to over-do – a staple for daytime.
MAC Novel Twist Cool Pearlizer Plus Brush (discontinued): The pink is a bit too frosty for daytime. However, the shimmer overload for this product during night is perfectly appropriate! I like to brush it onto my shoulders and above my cheekbones for maximum impact.
Stila Illuminating Finishing Powder in Rose Gold ($32 US): The only way I can describe the awesome feel of these highlighters are “velvety”. Rose Gold is a soft baby pink with hints of silver shimmer that looks pretty on cheekbones. Sometimes, I even brush it onto my lids to give my eyes extra attention! But Stila, give us more colors please!

I love highlighters too and am so addicted. I love Perfect Topping MSF from Sugarsweet and Blonde MSF from BBR.
Also love Trish McEvoy’s luminzer pen – it’s in the same likes as a Touch Eclat or Dior’s pen. Oh and I can’t forget Fresh’s Twilight primer.
Highlighters rule the world.

My absolute fave is Blonde MSF, too, Laurie!
I’ve also been on a Bobbi Brown Copper Diamond kick too.
And I agree, highlighters DO rule the world!!!

Lilan – you got me hooked on Blonde. It was sitting in my makeup bag, going unnoticed until one day in the comments you mentioned that’s often the one you use to get your glow.
And now it’s time to show Copper Diamond some love – that one’s been sitting in my makeup bag too. I used it a lot last winter after I bought it, but alas…you know how it goes!

My fave highlighter is NARS Albatross! Very silky, even application and never fake-looking.

I just got on the highlighter boat! I’ve been trying out a few inexpensive things to test the waters and physicians’ formula makes a really cool shimmer brick or shimmer strips its called. clearly trying to be a futuristic version of bobbi brown shimmer bricks

You’ll love it when you get Copper Diamond into rotation – it’s been divine for me right now for the summer/fall transition
