Wear It: MAC Bright Future Eye Shadow

MAC Bright Future box

Everyone knows how to work the basic brown eyeshadow into their daily looks, but how about a yellow eyeshadow?

Remember the MAC Style Warrior Collection from earlier this summer?  Think back really hard and you might remember buying Bright Future, a pigmented pure yellow eyeshadow.

MAC Bright Future

When I received this from Lilan as a present, I thought, “What?! Yellow eyeshadow?” It’s scary pigmented and creamy with the Veluxe Pearl finish.

I’m glad I tried it out though; it makes an amazing blending out color that pops more than basic cream or highlight colors.  So if your Bright Future is sitting in your stash alone, forgotten, and covered in dust, here are some of my tips on how to work it!

Start off with your normal eyeshadow application. Here I applied MAC Powerpoint Eyeliner ($14.50 US) in Mystery, a discontinued blue black color. Using a stiff pencil brush, I smudged it out to create a slightly smokey eye.

Then, I used a fluffy blending brush to sweep Bright Future over the crease of my eye to blend out Mystery. If you don’t want a full on yellow finish, make sure you just use a light hand to get it onto the brush.

Less is more with this bright yellow. I realized that it really opens up my eye shape, plus it’s a fun color!

Hint: If you want to try this trick but missed out on the Style Warrior Collection, MAC Eyeshadow ($14.50 US) in Chrome Yellow or Crest the Wave will do the trick.

What do you think of my method for working bright yellow eyeshadow? How did you use MAC Bright Future? Share your ideas and tips in the comments.
