Recessionista-Friendly Nail Colors from Hard Candy

Does anyone remember Hard Candy Cosmetics? They really made a name for themselves with their gorgeous nail polishes, remember? Unfortunately, they disappeared off the face of the beauty world until…now!
Hard Candy is now being sold at Wal-Mart for makeup addicts with a limited budget. Most of their products are less than $10 US, and are creating a big buzz.
I had the opportunity to check out their line, and I have to say that the nail polishes are so pretty! They even come with cute plastic rings which add a fun touch.

Hard Candy Just Nails Nail Color in Envy ($5 US) is the prettiest dark nail color I’ve ever seen! It’s a lovely dark forest green that has deep black undertones. There is some emerald shimmer, but it’s very subtle. This color is amazing quality and only needs two coats for drama and trendy appeal.

Hard Candy Just Nails Nail Color in Rumor Mill ($5 US) is an interesting color for the fall seasib. The deep purple would almost look black if there wasn’t a hint of red in the dark wine/plum color.
I can’t say that I love it, but it’s starting to grow on me. Quality wise, this color streaked a little on me, but after the second or third coat, it delivered on the color in the bottle.

Hard Candy Just Nails Nail Color in Hot Pants ($5 US) is a clear pink nail color with iridescent pink hexagonal sequins and pink glitter. I love the novelty of this nail polish; it makes a fun “top coat”.
The swatch is over Envy so you can get an idea. I think that the contrast between the vampy color of Envy and the girliness of Hot Pants is cute. The quality for this nail color is very good.
Hard Candy nail polishes really impressed me. My manicure with Envy lasted me about a week with no chips at all when combined with my Seche Vite Top Coat ($9.99 US).
Are you excited to see Hard Candy back up and running? Do you think you’ll pick up any of their nail polishes?

I like the glitter polish.
It’s nice that they are only $5.

Hi Karrie!
The glitter polish is very pretty. I wore it on my nails today on top of Envy. The sequins and glitter really caught the light and sparkled! Hot Pants really givees new life to any old polishes you might have.

I really like Rumor Mill – I’ve seen darker polishes worn on celebrities now.

I wonder if hard candy had to change their formulas to get the prices so low on their polishes and other products. or are they essentially just admitting how much of their prices in sephora and before were markup?

Hi Faye!
The glittery one is so pretty and girly! I hope you can find it somewhere in the UK too. If not, maybe online?

Hi Lauren!
I don’t know if Hard Candy had to change their formulas, but I’m guessing that they had to in order to keep prices down, like you said. The quality is still fab for the nail polishes, I can’t vouch for the other products yet, but I’m hoping they’re good too! Did you have any Hard Candy products that you liked and were hoping they didn’t change?

Hey Pegs!
Rumor Mills is a pretty bold color. If you feel like you’re confident enough to pull it off, go for it! Dark nails are always in for Fall.

Hey BeautyTalk!
I love these nail colors too! They look so much more expensive than they actually are. Hot Pants over Envy is getting me so many compliments!
