Review: Lush Dark Angels Facial Cleanser

Sometimes there are beauty products that surprise you. Lush Dark Angels Cleanser looks like a black crumbly, sooty mess that you wouldn’t want to go near let alone use it to clean your face. It’s so odd, it’s cool.
Read ahead to find out how to make the “art of face cleansing” a little more fun!

Doesn’t it look like a pile of dirt or pebbles? It seems crazy to put it on your face, but Lush Dark Angels Cleanser actually may be onto something. Charcoal, the main ingredient, is great for smooth exfoliating, especially for those with oily skin.
A note for Recessionistas out there: you can buy certain Lush products by the ounce or pound, like I did. It’s easy to stay in line with your budget when you ask for, say, $5 worth of Dark Angels!

What are you supposed to do with bits of crumbly pieces though? It’s easy, just grab a small piece and add tiny amounts of water until you form a paste.
I like to keep the paste on my fingertips so that it’s easy for me to scrub at my nose. The gritty flecks of charcoal are blackheads’ worst enemies!
After I rinse off, toner and moisturizer are a must. By using Lush Dark Angels Cleanser everyday, you are ridding your skin of excess oil, but you need to replenish your skin’s moisture levels. Otherwise, you’ll have inflamed, super dry, peeling skin – can you say eww?
For me, blackheads are less noticeable. I love how smooth my forehead feels, and blemishes are slightly reduced and less inflamed. Unfortunately, Lush Dark Angels Cleanser is not eye safe, so my eye makeup is still intact. I wish Dark Angels was eye safe and a little stronger on the exfoliating side, but other then that, it’s good for those who like to multi-task by exfoliating and cleansing together.
What are your favorite Lush products? Do you enjoy exfoliating cleansers as much as I do? Share your favorites in the comments!

The original Angels on Bare Skin is my holy grail cleanser

I’ve used this as a mask for the last month, and think it is one of the best. However I don’t see it being a very reliable cleaner, since it leaves a black residue. I use another cleanser to rinse it clean.

Hey Fresco Phyrra,
I’ve heard lots of good things about Angels on Bare Skin. Maybe I’ll try it next time!

Hi Wolfy,
I never thought about trying Dark Angels as a mask, but that could work! What I do after I put dark angels on is rinse off with water. I don’t use a seperate cleanser to wipe it off, but if that works for you-great!
