Beauty Matchup: Too Faced vs Jelly Pong Pong

Jelly Pong Pong Nude and Improved

Ever since I started using Too Faced Shadow Insurance as my go-to eyeshadow base last fall, I haven’t looked back.  I had no desire to test other bases at all – it’s the one product where I was totally content with the mantra “if it ain’t broke, why fix it?”

My Shadow Insurance comes in an easy to squeeze tube, I can control how much of it I want to use, and it totally works!

But, as a panelist for the Golden Compact Awards, a beauty awards brought forth by bloggers, a box of Jelly Pong Pong items arrived at my doorstep and forced me to put down my Shadow Insurance for a few days.

Jelly Pong Pong Nude and Improved ($20 US) is an eyeshadow base but can also be multi-functional as a concealer from what I can see on the websites I’ve visited.

The jumbo crayon makes it really easy to swipe the base onto my eyelids and use my fingers to smooth it all over before applying any eyeshadow.

With my Shadow Insurance, the product is essentially colorless but the Jelly Pong Pong stick has a peaches ‘n cream coloring.  Good thing is, it has no affect on any shadow colors you apply over it.

The texture of the creamy base is a little softer than I had imagined.  When I first used it, I was afraid that it would be too oily for my lids and create creases.  Surprisingly, it wasn’t so bad.  The trick is not to use too much of it.

Today I think I put a little too much on and my eyeshadow definitely started to crease by the late afternoon – which is still great in the longevity department.

In the end, if I had to choose, I’d still go back to my Shadow Insurance but would stay opened minded to new bases that came along.  After putting my skepticism for trying new products aside, Jelly Pong Pong Nude and Improved worked better than I thought it would making me curious to try more Jelly Pong Pong items. And with the prices on BeautyTicket.com, I can try as much as I want without breaking the bank.

On CherryCulture.com, I found these Nude and Improved sticks for $20 US but on BeautyTicket.com these run for just $6.99 each – awesome right?

Have you tried Jelly Pong Pong yet?  What are some of your favorite items from the brand?
