Quest for Luscious Lashes with Latisse: Week One

It’s been over 4 months since my Lasik eye surgery and all is well. Although I don’t exactly wake up bright eyed and bushy tailed, I do wake up and can see everything clearly.
My ophthalmologist/eye surgeon has confirmed that I am right on track with my recovery and he has finally okayed my request from months ago for a prescription of Latisse, the first FDA-approved prescription treatment for inadequate or not enough lashes to help them grow longer, fuller and darker.
According to the Latisse website, users start seeing the affects of the solution at eight weeks with full results at 16 weeks.
I’ve only been using Latisse for a week so I haven’t noticed anything yet. My doctor did warn me that it doesn’t work for everyone. At $125 for the three month prescription – I really, really hope it works!
I confess that at first I was put off by the price. Before I actually filled the prescription, I asked the pharmacist to check the price first.
After the initial sticker shock, I figured that a bottle of Latisse (if it works for me), is still more reasonable that the costs of time and money for eyelash extensions and all the subsequent touch-up visits they’d require.

After one week of Use – no noticeable changes yet
I’ll keep y’all updated and post pictures periodically so you can follow my progress.
I hope it works! I am sick of my wimpy, Asian lashes!

I LOVE your detailed thoughtful posts and look forward to seeing if you have a lash transformation! I have tried Revitalash and it irritated my eyes too much, so I went the extension route instead.

I used was always afraid of using Latisse and still am, because of the side effects that it may cause. But a safer and less expensive alternative I found was the Talika Lipocils ($40). According to the product it has no side effects and it doesn’t have any scary ingredients. It didn’t make lashes dramatically/super long but it did make them thicker and about half a cm longer after a month. If Latisse doesn’t work for you, I recommend this one.

I would generally advise against taking any medication that gets so much money spent on it to be advertised, especially a medication that used to treat something else but was found to cause this effect, and therefore the marketing changed.
I might just have bad luck, during my life I was prescribed Vioxx at age 12 for headaches, then it got taken off the market. I was recently taking Yaz and now that’s coming under huge scrutiny.
Just be careful! When new drugs come out the testing group is the consumer! Wait a few years before taking ANY new med!
