Splurge or Skip: Dior Holiday 2009
Can you believe that the holidays are just around the corner again? This year has been a whirlwind with my relocation to Orange County, travelling back to San Francisco every few weeks, and preparing for my vacation that I just got back from.
But now that our cruise has ended and the weekend travelling is winding down due to expensive flights during the holidays, I can now devote some time to highlight this season’s holiday collections from all of your favorite brands in a Splurge or Skip series!
Over the next few weeks we’ll be sharing our absolute favorites as well as our picks for what you can skip this season. Hopefully this will help you pare down your list so that you don’t have to check it twice before you splurge 
First up on our holiday Splurge or Skip series, Dior Cristal Boréal Holiday 2009 Collection.
The model for the Dior Cristal Boréal Holiday 2009 Collection looks a bit too much like an ice princess for me. But if you take a closer look at some of the shades and textures from this collection inspired by sparkling jewels, you’ll find a couple of goodies worth splurging on.
I really love the Dior Holiday Eye Palette ($42 US) with four shades that are subtle in color but really stand out with their finishes. Shimmery and frosty without looking like a disco queen. I wish the swatches came out better – it’s really much more outstanding in person.
Each shade is beautifully milled, with so much color and pigment in just one swipe. Because the texture is so fine, it’s also easy to blend and create bold or soft looks; it’s perfect for the demure woman looking for some holiday flair.
Those who love collecting will also appreciate the adorable quilted cover and dangling ‘D’ charm hanging from the top.
Definitely splurge on Dior Vernis Nail Polish in Silver Purple ($20 US). My bottle of pewter gray polish with tinges of purple is waiting for me to get a mani so I can show it off. Didn’t I tell you that I was going to be obsessed with purples this season? 
Don’t forget to pick up the Cristal Boréal Crystal Gloss Jewel ($80 US) if you’re a die-hard Dior girl and skip the rest.
