Splurge or Skip: Shu Uemura Tsumori Chisato Holiday

I love collaborations between the beauty and fashion worlds. It’s an affordable way to own a little luxury. Plus, the quality and price are usually great!
There’s Anna Sui for Target and Jimmy Choo for H&M; Hello Kitty for MAC and Tracy Reese for Sally Hansen. Now, there’s Tsumori Chisato for Shu Uemura!
Everyone knows what Shu Uemura is, but who is Tsumori Chisato? She is a famous Japanese designer who has a cute, girly fashion style. This year, Chisato has collaborated with Shu Uemura to feature her favorite Japanese icons, “twinkle star” and “lucky cat”.
The result is charming packaging with high quality makeup; the Shu Uemura Tsumori Chisato “Wish Upon a Star” Holiday 2009 collection.

The Tsumori Chisato collection features two playfully packaged palettes to create you holiday looks with. Splurge on Planet Cat Palette ($65 US) which has a more cohesive color palette with three eyeshadows, a cream eyeliner, cream highlighter and blush.
I can see an easy smokey eye and flushed cheeks in this palette, plus the packaging is way cute with a cat on the cover!
‘Rouge Unlimited’ Lipstick in Jupiter Brown ($25 US) is one hundred percent prettier than it sounds! Instead of a muddy brown, people are whispering that it is more of a flattering pink, brown laced with gold shimmer throughout.
Of course, the formula is superb like all Rouge Unlimited lipsticks with a glossy, moisturizing feel, and the packaging is so worth it. A cute cat on a glittery case makes touching up so chic!

Good makeup brushes are always an appropriate gift for any beauty lover. Shu Uemura ones are made in Japan, which is famous for producing quality brushes. The Mini Brush Set ($69 US) comes with a Face/Cheek, Eyeshadow, Concealer and Lip/Eyeliner Brush plus the gorgeous case!
You can tuck your brushes in and fit some makeup in the other pouches for a great gift to give and receive! I have to say that the price is very justifiable (a winking cat!) especially if you have only a couple of brushes. These will last a lifetime.

Easily the most affordable item in this collection, the Compact Mirror ($15 US) may seem like a silly purchase. Let’s think about it though.
How many of us use a separate compact mirror to check up on our hair and makeup throughout the day? I know that I do because I prefer not exposing my poor powder to the air every single time I need to use a mirror. Plus the pink matching pouch makes the price easier to swallow. Just consider this a necessary, cute splurge!
My top picks from this collection? Definitely splurge on Rouge Unlimited Lipstick in Jupiter Brown and the Compact Mirror.
