12 Days of Christmas: Day 9 – Get Great Holiday Hair with Aussie
Whether you’re just starting to snuggle up with your new beau, or you’ve been with him for years, the holidays bring up special nights out that you just gotta look perfect for.
For today’s ‘12 Days of Christmas’ giveaway, Aussie and their celebrity hair stylist, Sarah Potempa, has great hair tips to get you through any date night this holiday season. Plus we’re giving away all the products you need to get the look!
Fun, Casual Bowling Night: For a casual date that includes physical activity, choose a partially half-up ‘do with lots of volume – perfect for a long, layered haircut!
- Section out the shape of a diamond from the crown area and top (leaving out the small sweeping bang pieces).
- Spray Aussie’s Aussome Volume Hairspray underneath each section in the diamond and blow dry to lock in the volume (this is a great tip to replace messy teasing!)
- Secure the pieces with multiple bobby pins (which are cute visible if criss-crossed and match the color of your hair).
- Final step is to flat iron the ends with a slight bend to add movement. This look will keep your hair cute and “out of the way” enough to get a perfect strike!

Intimate Ice Skating Session: Ice skating can make for a great date night, but can lead to messy hair thanks to the wind! Try making your ponytail neat and smooth.
- Start by flat ironing your hair for a shiny foundation.
- Finely mist the roots with Aussie’s Opposites Attract Spray Gel and brush the hair into a smooth mid-length ponytail.
- TIP: Creating a ponytail without a part is the key to it looking more dressed up.
- Take a small piece and wrap it around the ponytail and secure with a bobby pin to add a finished look.
Meet the Parents! If the time has come to meet your date’s parents over the holidays, make sure to look your best with a professional-looking blow-out! Shiny, silky hair with some movement shows a sense of refinement and friendliness.
- Create this look by applying Aussie’s Aussome Volume Styling Mousse and blow dry large sections with a 2 inch boar bristle round brush.
- TIP: Always heat up the root and over-direct the brush for the most volume.
- Set hair in large 2-inch Velcro rollers to lock in the volume.
- Once the rollers are removed, spray Aussie’s Catch the Wave Sprunch Spray to a flat brush and brush through to blend in the curls.
Two lucky readers will win perfect holiday hair this season from Aussie. All you have to do is fill out the form below from now through Monday, December 21st at 11:55pm PST for your chance to win!
