A MAC Tone:Grey Face of the Day

MAC Tone Grey Quad

Do you feel like the weather plays a part in what makeup you wear?

It usually doesn’t affect me too much but Saturday was a particularly drab day in my neck of the woods in Orange County.  The sun was hiding and I just felt like gray was an appropriate color palette for me.

I rummaged through my makeup for something I could use to pull together a quick look and MAC Tone:Grey eye shadow quad ($36 US) seemed like the way to go.

First Look at Les Impressions De CHANEL

Les Impressions de CHANEL promo

This spring, CHANEL brings us delicate shades of pinks and plums that illuminate the new season.

Peter Philips, Global Director of CHANEL makeup, honors Coco Chanel’s legacy with Les Impressions de CHANEL, a collection of clean, classic neutrals that are infinitely wearable and effortlessly chic.

The new 2010 collection looks to be universally flattering and I just adore purples and am happy to see that the color trend is spilling over from fall and winter.

CHANEL Eyeshadow Quad_Kaska Beige

Les 4 Ombres de CHANEL in Kaska Beige ($56 US)  is probably one of my favorite quads from CHANEL in a long time.

Crystal’s 2009 Holiday Beauty Faves & FOTD

CP Holiday 2009 Favorites

My favorite looks are usually ones that are simple and easy to recreate.  At times, I do like to experiment with colors and textures, but limit myself to one trend per day to maintain an appropriate look. That way, it’s easy to adopt new products into my regimen.

New holiday makeup means new tricks and colors to incorporate into my no-fuss daily looks. From all the Splurge or Skip stories we did in 2009, there were so many new items that I really enjoyed. The look below is inspired by some of my favorites from the season.

Splurge or Skip: Stila Holiday 2009 Collection

Stila hol2009Stila Cosmetics is one of my favorite brands ever. Not for the packaging or the colors or even the quality (which are all good, by the way!). I love this brand because I think it makes great products at a great value hands down.

Even if you go to a drugstore, some of Stila’s sets will give you a bigger bang for your buck. Individually, Stila is expensive, but their value sets are super affordable. It boils down to this, drugstore mascara for $8 or the Stila set with 4 other items for $40? You know the answer.  :)

Stila Holiday 2009 Smudge Pot Set

Stila Smudge Pot Collection ($32 US) is without a doubt, a splurge. But, this is the set that converted me from a normal pencil liner user (still love you Urban Decay!) into a gel liner user. The difference is astonishing. Vibrancy, wear time, and versatility make this a champion. Read my full review here.
