Recessionistas Rule! Neutrogena Total Skin Renewal System

I’ve been eyeing the posh Clarisonic Skincare Brush Sonic Cleanser for a while now. I was ready to pull the trigger when I saw the Kinerase/Clarisonic exclusive set at Sephora – until I saw the $225 price tag.
Even at $149 for the one speed, entry level Mia model, the cleansing brush is out of my price range. Instead, I wandered over to a nearby drugstore and looked for more wallet-friendly, recessionista alternatives and found the Neutrogena Total Skin Renewal System ($27.99 US).
Neutrogena Total Skin Renewal System, from their new Ageless Restoratives line, comes in a 3-piece starter kit that includes: the Total Skin Renewal Applicator, a set of twelve renewal puffs and an AA Duracell battery. The system is marketed as an anti-aging power treatment that promises to “undo the look of year’s worth of skin aging” in just three uses.
When used in place of your usual facial scrub (no more than three times a week), the Renewal Applicator gently nudges off dead skin while increasing the skin’s microcirculation and oxygenation. The system’s magic comes from the Renewal Puffs enhanced with a patented ginger extract-based enzyme called Celluzyme.

According to Neutrogena, the Celluzyme “works with the applicator’s micro-vibrations to help accelerate the skin’s surface cellular renewal.”
I’ve only been using the Total Skin Renewal System for a week and I’ve already noticed results. Though I haven’t seen the reversal of skin damage (I’m not sure you can see it with the naked eye anyway), I did notice that after just one to two minutes of use my face felt smoother, softer and refreshed. My complexion also looked more even and even-textured.
Although the in-box instructions suggest using the system three times a week, I’ll be paring it down to just one. I’ve never exfoliated more than once a week anyway so I think that’s how I’ll use this treatment.
I’d recommend skipping your usual facial scrubs (both physical and chemical exfoliators) when you’re using the Renewal System. Try to use the Renewal System at least once a week but ultimately listen to your skin on frequency. Like everything else, too much exfoliation can be a bad thing.
If you’re looking for something to help renew your complexion, try the Neutrogena Total Skin Renewal System. If you like what the system uncovers and want to continue with the system, Total Skin Renewal Puff Refills are sold separately ($18.99 US for 24 puffs).
Neutrogena Total Skin Renewal Starter Kits and Puff Refills are available in drugstores, mass retailers, online at Drugstore.com and anywhere else you buy Neutrogena products.
