I walk down NYC’s 8th Street all the time. The street is one of my favorites in the Greenwich Village, especially when all the independent shoe stores were still open.

When I walk down the same street now, most of the independent shoe stores have turned over to pizza joints, wine bars or intimate restaurants. However, one of the new storefronts that has been a pleasant surprise is Eve Salon.

Eve Salon, sister to Haven Salon in SoHo, is a 1,400 square feet spa with five waxing rooms, two facial rooms, four manicure stations and four pedicure stations. The quaint salon plays up Greenwich Village’s historical roots with exposed bricks and hardwood floors. Co-owner Gabrielle Ophals “used low voc paint, recycled as much of the existing structure as possible.”

Pedicures are performed at stations that employ pipeless jet technology that exceeds the standards in most nail salons while clients relax on a comfortable sofa-like bench. Nail color options include salon mainstay Essie and natural line Zoya.

Available through January 31, 2010, the Pampermint Pedicure ($39) is Eve’s Winter-exclusive treatment. The 45-minute pedicure treatment uses all peppermint products and is served with a cup of natural hot cocoa (can be spiked with a little Peppermint Schnapps if you’re feeling naughty).

I stopped in for the Pampermint Pedicure this weekend and it was just lovely. There is something about cool, tingly peppermint products that heightens your senses. And yes, I opted for the spiked cocoa.

I was so into the minty-ness of it all that I even went with Essie’s Mint Candy Apple from the new Winter Collection on the toes!

The salon also offers facials, waxing services, threading, manicures and electrolysis. Sixty minute facials start at $85. Waxing services start at $7. Threading starts at $12 and electrolysis starts at $50 for a 25 minute treatment. The Classic European Manicure is $13 and the matching Pedicure is $26.
