MAC All Ages, All Races, All Sexes FOTD

MAC debuts 2010 with All Ages, All Races, All Sexes, a collection that “takes the ‘One World’ idea further than ever, with a multi-culti colour story, intent on a universal focus”.

This post-holiday collection certainly caters to folks of all color and skin tone with rich browns, beiges and soft pinks.

Here’s a preview of what you can expect to arrive on counters this week on January 7th:

MAC Eyeshadow ($14.50 US) in Banshee is described as a dirty taupe with frost and sparkle.

I find that swatches more like a muted rosewood pink in color, but the sparkle in the description is definitely there.

Showstopper is a deep, dark brown in a matte finish that’s heavily pigmented.  As with most mattes, this one is harder to apply evenly and blend.  But with a little work and practice, it’s very wearable.

I actually like the richness of Showstopper as some mattes can fall flat without shimmer or pearl in the formula.

For today’s FOTD, I applied Showstopper using a dense shadow brush to pat the shade onto my lids.  This helps me to precisely apply the color where I want it as well as give me the ability to pick up more color and apply it darker.

With a fluffy angled shadow brush, I applied Banshee above Showstopper in a half circle shape, following the outer crease to the inner of my lids.  This gives me a touch of color and shimmer to brighten up the darkness.

I like the shimmery touch Banshee adds to the overall look muted look.  And although I mentioned earlier that I liked the rich color of Showstopper, this matte shade creased heavily by the end of the evening – even with the use of an eyeshadow primer.

On my lips, I went with a pale gray pink combination with MAC Lipstick ($14 US) in Myself (left) under MAC Lipglass ($14 US) Glamour For All (right).

Myself is a creamy pink beige lustre and Glamour For All is a milky baby pink that’s a little inconsistent in formula. Together, it makes a great mod pink lip that I think I will pair with a thick, black cat eye very soon.

I really love the combination of colors I was able to preview so far from All Ages, All Races, All Sexes and it makes me really excited to see the rest of the MAC collection when it comes out later this week.

Did this preview pique your interest to hit the counters?  What are your picks?
