A Riveting FOTD.. MAC Riveting, That Is

Even though I’m not a fan of Valentine’s Day – who needs just one day to declare love to that special someone in your life.  Or be reminded that we’re not attached whether we like it or not.

But over the self-proclaimed most romantic holiday, even I like to wear hot pinks or reds.. because any excuse is a good excuse to do so ;)

This year, the Boyfriend surprised me with tickets to go see another Cirque du Soleil’s OVO show since we enjoyed KOOZA so much a couple of weeks ago.  So I decided to surprise him with a bold, fuchsia lippie that he actually liked!

MAC Riveting collection hits counters and boutiques this week and pays homage to the classic rocker chick with shades of metallic pewters and silvers along with the hottest of pinks and fuchsia.

I was lucky enough to preview a couple of items from the collection but for my Valentine’s Day look, I skipped over the metal shades for the girly stuff.

ROUGE COCO: Preview the New Line of CHANEL Lipsticks

February 25, 2010.  Mark the date on your calendars because that’s when CHANEL will unveil ROUGE COCO, a new line of lustruous lipsticks in a whoppin’ 30 shades.

This new ready-to-wear lipstick, features a creamy texture that CHANEL Global Creative Director Peter Philips hopes that “women from the gloss generation, who are afraid of lipstick, can return to this essentially feminine beauty step with ROUGE COCO”.

I dunno about you, but that sounds just like me!  I’m forever a gloss girl that’s steadily teaching herself the way of the lipstick.

Here’s a preview of five of the 30 new ROUGE COCO shades – from left to right:

Nails of the Week: Navy Nails from Borghese

In regards to fashion, it is usually not a good idea to scrimp on the staples. After all, an authentic leather handbag will be much more serviceable for the years to come than a faux, pleather one.

However, some things like white t-shirts do not apply. I find that the ones from Hanes are just as great as the ones from American Apparel. Likewise, I like to save on nail polishes as I always find great dupes to the favorite high-end brands.

In the winter of 2008, Dior Poison Blue, a deep glossy navy, was released to the many fans that adored dark nails. Sophisticated yet edgy, navy was the “it” color.  Unfortunately, Poison Blue was limited edition, and exclusive to Sephora; it is long gone now.

If you missed out and love dark nails as much as I do, Borghese Nail Lacquer in Mezzanote Blue ($8 US) makes an almost identical dupe color wise.

Clinique Spring 2010: Juiced Up Colour

My makeup style is always evolving. Last year, I was into softer neutral eyes, but now I love wearing colorful peacock eyes. Are you the same? Do you wear the same makeup you wore two years ago?

As a teen, you might have used Clinique’s awesome skincare but my have abandoned it as an adult for more glamorously packaged brands.  But lately, I think Clinique deserves a second glance. Just take a look at the delightful Juiced Up Colour Collection for Spring 2010.

When I first fell for cosmetics, I was fascinated by the intricate designs on many cheek products. The Clinique All Over Color in Mixed Berries ($29.50 US) is no exception and looks (almost) too lovely to use! Still, the plumy rose shade is too pretty not to dip into!
