Les Pop-Up de CHANEL: Summer Color for Lips & Nails

Look at these amazing pinks for summer!  And the splash of soft teal makes me wonder why I haven’t booked my beach vacation yet – even though we just started spring.  Costa Rica, anyone?

Les Pop-Up de CHANEL is inspired by the idyllic seaside vista with new shades of juicy lip colors and enviable nails.  I am loving everything I see from this collection!

Vibrant pops of color, including neon pink, sunny coral and brilliant turquoise are beautifully complemented by bronzed, glowing skin…and sure to be the standout shades of summer.

Skip Luggage Drama with Beauty Travel Kits

{Image: Getty Images}

As the temperature rises and being outdoors is pleasant again, I plan on taking long weekends away.  Unfortunately, as much as I love going away I really, really hate packing.

My roommates make fun of me because I whine for days before I even start packing and whine even louder as I’m doing it.  The fear that I will forget to bring something that is absolutely crucial has me packing for 2 – 3 hours every time – even if I’m just putting together a weekender bag.  It’s ridiculous, right?

So I’ve finally decided that I am going to evolve past my OCD-like behavior and just have faith in pre-made travel kits.

Lunch and People-Watching at Monsoon

Monsoon is a great spot for some people watching at 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica.

But consumer beware, the service on the patio where you can catch the hustle and bustle of the Promenade is first-come, first-serve and is really slow!  Nonetheless, the food was not too shabby with a few inventive dishes.  Like,

the Smoked Salmon Roll.

It’s shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, asparagus, cucumber, avocado and cream cheese wrapped in soy paper, versus seaweed, and is topped with smoked salmon and an eel sauce.

The Smoked Salmon Roll is HUGE and can easily be shared to fill you up.  We ordered this roll because I had never seen this combination before, however there was just too much stuff going on and the cream cheese was just too much and overpowered everything else.

We also shared the Tuna Crab Eggrolls which sounded good on paper and actually wasn’t too bad in reality thanks to the citrusy ponzu dipping sauce.

The seared tuna was a little well done in some pieces and just right in others.  The crab mixture seemed to be an imitation crab.  The whole thing didn’t have the great seafood-y goodness to it I was hoping for.  But again, I give it credit for putting items on the menu that I hadn’t really seen before.

Have you been to Monsoon in Santa Monica?  What are your favorite dishes there?
