Conceal and Brighten Under-Eye Circles

{Image Source: Getty}

I don’t know when it happened but I am newly committed to applying concealers and under-eye brighteners almost every day.

It must be something about the way I look a little bit more awake, a little bit more refreshed.  Well, let’s be frank.. I look just a little bit better.

I’ve been experimenting with a few different brands and formulas over the past weeks and here are some my favorites:

Get Back to Skincare Basics with Clinique’s 3-Step System

Do you remember your first time at the Clinique counter?  It was probably sometime in junior high school when your skin started to break out.

The first time I found myself at the Clinique counter was at Macy’s in the Glendale Galleria in southern California.  I remember the pretty Clinique expert with her neat hair, white lab coat and clear skin.

The Clinique girl asked me a series of questions printed on a plastic frame and slid a coordinating knob along the board based on my answers.  The result was a suggested skin care type and product recommendations that best suited my skin.

Build Your Own Bloody Mary at Home Restaurant

Last weekend I was in San Francisco and decided to go out for a fun family brunch at Home on Market Street.

My boyfriend and I always check out restaurant menus before making reservations anywhere and the thing that drew us to Home was the “Build Your Own Bloody Mary” drink on their brunch menu.

Each BYOBM starts with a healthy serving of vodka – if I weren’t in the company of family I might have opted to drink it straight up ;)

Then the Boyfriend and I headed back to the bloody mary station to make our drinks.

Holy mackerel, we weren’t expecting the spread of varying bloody mary mixes — from mild to spicy — as well as different hot sauces, celery salt and pepper in case you’re looking for an extra kick.

On the other side was an array accoutrements so that we could customize our drink with anything we wanted — pepperjack cheese, olives, onions, pepperochinis, lemons and more.

I kept mine simple with a couple cubes of the spicy cheese (at the recommendation of our server) and the traditional celery garnish.

After we settled in with our drinks, our food arrived.  Unfortunately, the bloody marys were the highlight of our meal.  Mine anyway.

I opted for the Niman Ranch Brisket Hash that our waitress said was one of the best on the menu.  Sadly, my poached eggs were poached to death.

I got none of the yummy, runny yolk that would have helped to tie the dish together.  Instead the brisket hash and potatoes were dry.  Luckily I had something to wash it down ;)

The Boyfriend opted for lunch with a brunch twist with the Meyers Ranch Hamburger and added a fried egg on top.  From the little nibble that he shared with me, the patty was moist and full of flavor — delicious!

The fries were pretty good too.  Home has the best ranch sauce to dip with!

Do you have a favorite brunch spot in San Francisco?  Please share! :)
