LORAC Private Affair and Evening Out FOTD

I think the last time I had to make a really tough decision was this past Saturday. I was going out with some friends and wanted to spice up my look. Automatically, I reached for the LORAC Private Affair Palette ($38 US) from their fall release.

My opinion of the palette hasn’t changed since my review here, except for one thing. If you’re an indecisive person like me, you are going to have a hard time deciding which stunning colors to use in your look! I wanted to use them all, so I did.

OC Restaurant Week: Pinot Provence

My coworkers and I decided to do a ladies luncheon today to take advantage of the great Orange County Restaurant Week deals by our offices that are going on this week (until Saturday, October 2nd).

During OC Restaurant Week you can dine at some of the yummiest spots Orange County has to offer from as little as $10 menus for a 3-course lunch and $30 starting for 3-course dinners.

Today we tried the prix fixe at Pinot Provence near South Coast Plaza and were delighted with the outcome.  There were four of us and three different options each for Starters, Entrees, and Dessert.  Aside from the starters, we ordered one of each.

Roasted baby beets, goat cheese, oranges, lemon vinaigrette, watercress

Hand-rolled fettuccini, seasonal vegetables, fresh pesto, goat cheese

Pan-roasted herb-crusted New Zealand snapper, mint emulsion, baby carrots, cauliflower, chermoula rubbed fingerling potatoes

Crème fraîche panna cotta, peach and mango compote

Valrhona chocolate and raspberry mouse cake, crème anglaise, vanilla bean gelato

We also had rotisserie chicken, pommes purée, haricots verts, sauce grand-mère as one of our entrees and a trio of gelatos for our last dessert.  Everything was pretty yummy and at $20, you can’t really beat it.  The portions were great!

We’re hoping to take advantage of OC Restaurant Week again on Friday before it ends this weekend, what about you?  What eatery has caught your eye from the list posted online?

Shiny Strands with Oribe Brilliance & Shine Hair Line

{Image Source: Modern Salon}

A couple of months ago, I was counter-shopping (my version of beauty counter window-shopping) at New York’s Bergdorf Goodman and a gorgeous bottle caught my eye.

Upon closer inspection, I pleased to learn it was a hair care line by high-fashion hairstyling veteran Oribe (pronounced Or-bay).

Over his 30 year career, the South Beach-based hairstylist has tousled the tresses of Christy Turlington, Heidi Klum, Naomi Campbell, Diana Ross and Jennifer Lopez in addition to an expansive editorial portfolio.  Having worked on and perfected the manes of some of Hollywood’s most beautiful women, there’s no doubt that Oribe knows hair.

Oribe Shampoo for Brilliance & Shine

For over a month, I’ve been using Shampoo for Brilliance & Shine ($44 US) and Conditioner for Brilliance & Shine ($47 US) and absolutely love it.

Nails of the Week: OPI Swiss Collection

You know what sounds really good right now? Gobbling up a bar of Toblerone Swiss chocolate while watching Heidi and drinking some Swiss Miss Hot Cocoa. (I have to admit, I have adored Heidi in elementary school. I even had the doll!)

Let’s not get into details about movies I’ve been meaning to re-watch. Instead, let’s focus on the Swiss theme going on and admire two divine colors from the OPI Fall 2010 Swiss Collection.

I knew I needed the OPI Nail Lacquer in Ski Teal We Drop ($8.50 US) as soon as I saw it in Allure’s September issue. This dark cream teal simply glides onto the nail fully opaque in two coats-the formula is outstanding, even by OPI’s standards!
