Nails of the Week: China Glaze Midnight Kiss

It’s that time again. The period of winter when my skin actually pales down one or two shades from lack of sun. It’s inconvenient in the least because now I have to fuss with my too-dark powders and makeup to make them work with my lighter skin tone or buy a paler shade.

At least with nail polishes I can simply whip out another bottle if I feel that a certain color doesn’t suit my greenish, vein-y hands. I look for metallic, dark and/or sparkly colors to make my pale hands look as humanly attractive as possible.

Exfoliate & Moisturize for Soft, Smooth Skin & Lips this Winter

Between the process of daily exfoliating and moisturizing, I’ve gotten to the point where there’s almost a science behind the methods I use to keep my skin and lips equally soft during the winter. Granted, it’s not perfect or something that will work for everyone but I think it’s a pretty universal concept. Just tweak it to work for you.

The most important thing is to stick to the regimen and be gentle whenever possible. Then watch the miracle unfold as your skin transform from simply exfoliating and moisturizing regularly. Explore your options with some of these products!

Travel Companions: Benefit Pocket Pal

I love Benefit Benetint. One of the original lipstains in a shade that suits so many, so well.

And now I love this travel-friendly Pocket Pal version ($20 US) even more. It’s so easy to travel with – a mini tube of the original Benetint on one side, and a clear gloss on the other.

It’s perfect because during some of the drier seasons of the year (like winter), I always apply a lip balm underneath or dab some sheer gloss over it for added moisture.

Get the Look: Glittery Nails by Milani Cosmetics

I have a love/hate relationship with glitter even if it’s not beauty related. Why last week I ended up spending 15 more minutes at Michaels than I intended just because I got side tracked by all that sparkling, hypnotic craft store glitter in one aisle.

I didn’t buy any of the colors, although a certain indigo/navy/silver mix was calling to me. Fact: glitter has a tendency to stick to everything including my mind. I couldn’t get the urge to glitter-ize something out of my head, so as soon as I got home I broke out these sparkly disco nail polishes by Milani!
