Nails of the Week: MAC Mischievous Mint & China Glaze Cracked Concrete

It’s been amazingly sunny the past few days – spring has officially sprung in Orange County! And to suit my mood, I decided on a mint green polish for the week – MAC Mischievous Mint, to be exact.

MAC Mischievous Mint ($14 US), from their new Quite Cute collection, is a creamy pale mint shade that reminds me of soft pastel green mini marshmallows. I like the color, but I didn’t quite like how it finished on my nails in two coats. The finish was a little bit streaky, due to the coarse bristles of the brush I think.

I had been wearing it for a few hours, contemplating whether or not I liked it when I thought.. I should sass it up with a coat of crackle polish to see how it would turn out.

I have never used crackle polishes before. And if you haven’t either, the concept is quite cool. Paint your nails like you normally would with a base coat and two regular coats. Let it dry completely and apply just one coat of crackle nail polish. The ones I have are from China Glaze.

Crystal Says: Weekend Beauty Reads

No wonder I’m in love with the summertime. The bright, happy colors of the season are just so uplifting and refreshing. It must be something about the warm, feel-good sun that makes me crave hues like creamy coral for nails.

One option if you’re in the mood for an early Summer would be the Deborah Lippmann Nail Lacquer in Girls Just Want to Have Fun ($16 US), a pop of warm coral crème. It’s far cheerier than the boring nude nails I’m wearing right now and quite possibly one of the truest, prettiest corals I’ve ever seen.
