Balance Skin with Active Naturals in the Aveeno Smart Essentials Collection
There are so many nooks and crannies in the world of skincare that it’s easy to get lost trying to find what is best for you. I know I’ve caught myself wandering the drugstore aisles before wondering if I should try something for an uneven skin tone, fading spots, or overall brightening.
It’s hard to make a decision and I don’t want to overload my skin with products that might potentially cause irritation. This is exactly why I absolutely love the Aveeno Smart Essentials line. The products are designed for stressed skin and target the complexion holistically instead of combating a specific skin woe like blemishes.
I usually use a lighter cleanser during the morning and a stronger one to take off grime and makeup during the night but the Aveeno Pore Purifying Facial Wash ($6.99 US) does both. The cleanser is very gentle and light so I need two or three pumps to feel clean but it makes my skin very smooth without any tightness or dryness.
While this facial wash does not take off all my eye makeup, it lathers well and removes my face makeup excellently. The product’s scent is very pleasant and fresh. Not floral but more so botanical. The sturdy and attractive packaging with the functional pump mechanism is perfect as is.
I firmly believe in good exfoliation for smooth skin but it’s not beneficial to use a harsh scrub everyday. However, the Aveeno Daily Detoxifying Scrub ($6.99 US) is mild enough to use daily so I use it every night. The exfoliator almost looks and feels like a cleanser because the bits of exfoliant are so tiny.
This product has the same soothing scent as the Pore Purifying Facial Wash with just as solid packaging. In terms of results I like using this after the cleanser since it polishes and smoothes my skin without being harsh. My skin isn’t too dull to begin with so brightening wasn’t noticeable for me, yet I feel I have a more even skin texture.
In the mornings I apply the Aveeno Daily Nourishing Moisturizer ($15.99 US) which sports SPF 30 and vitamin A, C, and E. What I like most about this lotion is the good sun protection since most daytime moisturizers have SPF 15. It doesn’t smell like SPF though, just the signature scent of the Smart Essentials collection that I like.
The moisturizer’s texture is silky and absorbs quickly but feels comfortable on the skin. It isn’t too heavy for oily skin or too light for drier ones but strikes a fine balance. My makeup glides on smoothly after applying. Overall my skin feels soft and isn’t much darker though it’s been warm and sunny which means the product is doing its job.
Compared to the Daily Nourishing Moisturizer, the Aveeno Nighttime Moisture Infusion ($15.99 US) is much more emollient and rich. I like letting nighttime skincare work its magic while I’m sleeping so this cream does just the thing by prepping my skin for tomorrow while hydrating and renewing.
This moisturizer is not too heavy though and I wake up to balanced, even skin. I think it’s more the act of using all of these products together that gave me nice results. I am planning on purchasing the collection once I finish and find it to be a good skincare regimen during the Summer since I’m out and in the sun more often.
Do you have any Aveeno favorites? What skincare musts are on your counter this Summer?
