Two Foundation Brushes to Consider by Japonesque

One thing that is so great about the online beauty community is that we share so much helpful information with everyone. Whether that’s in the form of a video tutorial, article, or product review anyone can jump right in because of the wealth of information we put onto the internet.

With that said I feel like some intimidating topics like foundation are a little trickier to maneuver. There are so many pages and pages on this introductory topic that I remember getting overwhelmed. Most seem to stress that the key is in application and I completely agree.

It’s really a matter of trial and error to see what works for you and your foundation. Speaking of, I want to share my thoughts on these two foundation tools.

MAC Styledriven Collection for Fall 2011

I have to say that I love the whole retro thing going on in the promotional image for the MAC Styledriven Collection. An upcoming release for Fall that officially debuts September 22nd, the imagery seen above is so inspiring and artistic.

However I don’t really see the connection between the ad or the name of the collection and the key focus which is in long wearing products. Nonetheless with a vast array of creamy eyeshadows, 6 hour glosses, and 15 hour lip pencils MAC has created something new for everyone.

The Diet & Exercise Game, Again

{image source}

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’ll know that I’ve been trying to lose weight for what seems like forever.  My dieting days of last year resulted in a 10lb loss, which I was ecstatic about and have been able to maintain since the beginning of the year.

But now with a wedding to plan and the pressures to lose another 10lbs is back – thanks to my mom who insists that I’ll look better in the traditional Vietnamese “ao dai” that I’ll be wearing to my engagement party if I drop some poundage (argh).

So here I am back again, trying to figure out how I’m gonna lose the peskiest 10lbs ever, without spending any money on a personal trainer (which I really, really want).

Tonight I’m heading back to the dreaded gym to do my own version of a Body Pump class I took at 24 Hour Fitness a few weeks ago with my MOH, Miss Le.  Triceps, biceps, followed by a few jumping jacks or quick cardio, then squats, lunges, and more cardio.  That should be easy right?  Riiiiiiiiiiigggghhhhhttt.

And after that, I have to figure what I’m going to eat for the next three months so I don’t feel deprived from food.  I’ve definitely learned portion control which has helped me to maintain my initial loss, but skimping even more to lose the extra few pounds is going to require lots more discipline.

Crossing my fingers!

Nails of the Week: Deborah Lippmann Ruby Red Slippers

If you could only wear one brand of nail polish for the rest of your life which would it be? For me that is easy: Deborah Lippmann but I would love to see your answer in the comments. I feel you can really get a feel for that person’s aesthetic or style this way, assuming that person is a nail lacquer enthusiast.

Now comes the tricky part. Why? I love everything about the brand. The beautiful bottle design, the simple yet effective brush, and the heart-stopping, lust worthy colors. Lippmann even makes pink look good, though I’ll save my pennies for the truly exquisite sequin glitter polishes that are her signature.
