For $3 Bucks, I Love Wet ‘n Wild “Walking on Eggshells”
The seasoned beauty lover knows you don’t always get what you pay for. This is why it’s a good idea to know what to generally save and splurge on. Basic eyeshadow colors? Every blog and magazine I’ve read labels them a splurge.
But what to do? I think I’m completely smitten with the Wet n Wild Color Icon Eye Shadow Trio in Walking on Eggshells ($2.99 US). From the outside it looks exactly like a $3 palette but blindfolded I could swear these are $20 eye shadows.
We have your basic cream, soft brown, and light peach-pink in one adorable set. Perfectly coordinated to go with each other, Wet n Wild labeled each color: Browbone, Crease and Eyelid to make it even easier. As a means of switching things up I find that Browbone and Eyelid are seamlessly interchangeable.
Flimsy with messy peeling stickers, the packaging doesn’t wow me but for such a quality product I don’t care. The sponge-tip applicators are also rather useless for application although they swatched the colors beautifully for me.
Swatches can reveal a lot about the texture of the makeup. See how soft and saturated the pigments cling to the skin. I don’t experience any fall out and each shadow blends wonderfully into each other. Shockingly high quality and not just for the price.
Sometimes I accidentally overblend and the colors may lose their vibrancy but this is where I can just go back in and pat on some more.
In this quick eye look I am not wearing any primer. I quite literally threw this on since I was late meeting friends. The picture was taken afterwards once I came back home. Flattering and so simple, all I needed was the 217 brush.
To get the look just follow Wet n Wild’s guideline and pat on the Eyelid, Crease, and Browbone color. Then finish with dark brown eyeliner and black mascara.
Have you tried the Color Icon Palettes? Is there a specific one you recommend?

I’ve always been partial to Wet ‘n Wild cosmetics, and I’m not sure why. Perhaps it’s because I used to buy their inexpensive cosmetics early in high school when I didn’t have a lot of money. Plus, they had this silver lipstick that I fell in love with (who knows why???). So we have a special bond, Wet n Wild and me.

Hi Erin O’Brien,
Ooh silver lipstick! Please do tell how you rocked that look!
I used to wear their 99¢ eyeliners. Last time I checked they still had a great variety of colors!

Crystal,
Silver lipstick, what a mistake! It was during 8th grade track and our school’s colors were blue and white. So it was either blue lipstick or silver during our track meets… My mother was very careful about me (not) wearing makeup, so I’m not even sure the silver lipstick made it out into the public.
Yes, I agree, their eyeliners are, and have been, terrific. Over the years I’ve purchased an array of green and blue eyeliners… for the price they have never disappointed. It’s an affordable way to try new colors, too.
I hope the wedding planning is going well!

Hi Erin O’Brien,
Well you know what they say about blue lipstick. The color makes your teeth look whiter! Still, I would have gone with the silver too, much more subtle!
It’s Lilan, our Founding Editor-in-Chief, who is getting married but thank you for your warm wishes for her!

I actually wore that palette today and received so many compliments. Folks did not believe me when I told them that it was WnW.

Hi Monique,
Thanks for dropping a line!
Walking on Eggshells is a great palette and one I can actually see myself hitting pan on. I bought Silent Treatment afterwards and I’m equally impressed!
