Merle Norman Brings You Low Maintenance Color this Fall

One thing’s for certain. My makeup style has been constantly evolving over the years. Right now, I feel much more conservative and opt for neutral or nude colors that I might not even have glanced at two years ago.

I’m guessing that it’s probably because I’ve changed my approach. I look for low maintenance products now more than ever since I’m only clocking in about 6 hours of sleep a night. Color is still so much fun to do, just not on a rushed weekday morning.

The 2nd Annual Beauty Closet Sale!

It’s that time of year, ladies!  Last year when we hosted our very first beauty sale (check it out here!) it was such a success that we decided we just had to do it again!

The Daily Cookie invites you to the 2nd Annual Beauty Closet Sale charity fundraiser to benefit an organization that’s near and dear to me – the Down Syndrome Foundation of Orange County.

We will be selling brand new and gently sampled beauty goodies, from hair care to makeup items and more — all for $5 each! Last year we helped to raise over $1,100 which went to help create new classes for infants with Down Syndrome.

Find your favorite brands like MAC, Redken, Clinique, and Revlon and discover even more new brands to fall in love with.

Also at this year’s sale will be UVSOUL.com, an online boutique that features urban vintage fashions for the urban vintage soul.   10% of all their sales at this event will also be donated to DSFOC, yippee!

The event will be held at:

The Wedding Pantry
138 W. Main Street
Tustin, CA 92780

Saturday, October 1st, 2011
3 – 5pm

There will be light refreshments to enjoy while you shop!  We hope to see you there!

Lip Lust: Bobbi Brown 1991 Lip Palette

I love hearing the back stories on how beauty brands came to be.  And this year, to celebrate Bobbi Brown’s 20th anniversary, we learn a little bit about how this favorite of mine started out:

In 1991, discouraged by the lack of flattering lip colors that were available, Bobbi took to making her own. She created ten lipstick shades that had a brown base, which was in her opinion the most natural complement to a woman’s skin tone.

Zagat 2012: Los Angeles & SoCal!

Can I just tell you how beyond EXCITED I was to run through my mail today and find this beauty??  Let me introduce you to the Zagat guide.  Zagat guides are surveys used to collect and correlate the ratings of restaurants by diners.

If you don’t already know by now, The Fiancé and I love eating out.  But I have to admit, we’re not as savvy with the southern California food scene as we are with the San Francisco one.  After all, it’s hard to get into it when one half of this couple still lives in SF!

But next year when my beau finally moves down to Orange County (we might end up closer to LA even), I know we’ll find the latest Zagat totally useful for our date nights (which usually always includes food!).

In case you’re not familiar with how the guide actually works, restaurants get rated up to 30 points in three categories: food, decor, and service.  There’s also a fourth category for average cost.  I can’t wait for us to start using the guide to discover new restaurants :)

Have you used these Zagat guides in your local city?  How do you love using them?
