The Lorac Ooh La Lace Palette Inspires Elegance this Fall
In my head the impossibly chic me in a Mad Men world would wear jaunty silk scarves and delicate wingtip heels with kid gloves and golden pearls. And of course my hair would be gently parted to bring out a stylish finger wave.
Such a note-worthy sophistication can only be brought together with the helping touch of a bit of makeup. Not just any old cosmetic item will do. A dash of classy with a hint of magical is the only thing that will look stand out atop an old fashioned wooden vanity. Seems difficult to find and yet I have just the thing to show you.
Meant to be a seductive, lingerie-inspired palette, the Lorac Ooh La Lace Baked Shimmer & Matte Eye Shadow Palette ($36 US) would take front and center on my imaginary antique vanity. The gorgeous lacy exterior brings to mind fancy things of the Victorian Era or any elegant setting really.
As beauty lovers we can all appreciate the mix of shimmery and matte shades, although I would say that the matte shadows are more of a satin than true matte finish. Nonetheless this palette comprises of the ideal textures and hues for creating sultry smoky eyes.
I love the inside packaging of the Ooh La Lace Palette. The black glittery fabric lining is another luxurious touch that elevates the quality of this item. The impractical side is that any stray shadow smears against the fabric, which is difficult to clean. The magnetic closure and cardboard packaging are sturdily constructed.
Lorac’s names and descriptions: Lust (cream with shimmer), Smolder (matte gray), Risqué (matte black), Stunner (light bronze with shimmer), Knockout (bronze with shimmer), Racy (matte brown).
I’ll preface my thoughts on the eye shadows with a note that these colors, though maybe not the effect and texture, are dupable. Also I personally like the convenience of having such wonderfully coordinating colors in one compact set.
Each shadow is intensely pigmented with a rich buttery quality that gives a glowy, brightening look to the eyes. Even without priming, I found that these colors wore well meaning no creasing though fading was inevitable. Blending was a breeze since brushes seemed to pick up the pigments well and I experienced no fall out.
If nothing else on your must-have list for Fall, I highly recommend swatching this palette next time you are at Sephora. The neutrals have extra mileage and the lovely packaging makes this piece collector’s item-worthy.
