Let’s face it, The Fiancé and I have been engaged since May and while we have done a lot to plan for the wedding, nothing feels as good as actually completing a tangible task and crossing it off my list.
Friends, today I have completed our engagement party invitations AND they are ready to be dropped off in the mail, yipppeeeee! Since most of my family and friends don’t read my blog on a regular basis (except G, who’s a faithful RSS subscriber – thanks girl!), I’m going to share with you what they look like before they hit our guests’ mailboxes.
As you know, I decided to DIY my red and metallic charcoal gray invitations. My MOH and I spent a few hours one weekend last month to assemble these beauties, along with our good friend Henry for entertainment, of course!
We worked in an assembly line to mount the printed part of the invites onto the red backing. Then we cut 1/2 inch strips of metallic charcoal paper to add as an accent on the left.

To make it Asian-inspired, we applied a single silk cherry blossom to the lower corner.

Here, my MOH is peeling off a little pearl detail to glue onto the blossom’s center bud.

Don’t you just love her glasses? So industrial! Don’t let that glue get in your eyes, girl!

Tossing them into a pile as we’re working away. Apologies for the blurred out address – no crashers, please! LOL

While we had finished these about three weeks ago, I spent the last two trying to figure out how to address the envelopes. Since there are a dark metallic, I didn’t think that printing black on them would be a good idea.

A crafty co-worker suggested that I make wrap-around labels. I loved the idea, especially since it would allow me to print multiple at a time versus each individual envelope. I also like the fact that I would be able to incorporate more blossoms to the overall invite – just in case Mom thought it wasn’t “Asian” enough.

Here they are, ready to be dropped into the mail! I think they turned out really great, I hope you do too!
Did you make your own invitations? How long did it take you and did you have to run through any hurdles in the process like I did with the stamp situation?
