Nails of the Week: OPI Rainbow Connection

There are so many things to love about layering a good clear base glitter nail polish over an equally pretty base color. It adds sparkle, pizzazz, and fun! My favorite tip is to layer them over a week-old manicure to extend its life by hiding any tip wear.

A single coat over any polish is also conveniently easier to remove than wearing just three coats of an opaque glitter. I like the hexagonal sequin glitter type best, but any unique mix of colors and shapes will catch my eye.

Inspiration for the Holidays with NARS Hanamichi Eyeshadow Palette

As I mentioned on Saturday, I’ve been testing the NARS Hanamichi Eyeshadow Palette ($65 US) lately. Because of the beautiful design, it was hard to make that first mark, but I’m definitely not one to buy something without the intent of use.

Like other embossed or over-sprayed cosmetics, this Kabuki-inspired palette is purely aesthetics. Even looking at the specially packaged box and the other pieces in the NARS Holiday 2011 Collection, one can see how evident this is.

Crystal Says: Weekend Beauty Reads

I’m usually a fiend for traditional Black Friday shopping, but this year it was mostly the online deals (like the one below) that caught my eye. It was nice being at home rather than braving the crowds early in the morning.

I spent my time playing with the NARS Hanamichi Eyeshadow Palette ($65 US) which has been on the top of my wish list since its debut. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you’re all spending some time eating delicious home baked meals and goodies as well as having fun with your family. It’s a given any day of the year that those are things to be thankful for, but I believe our online beauty community is too.

Being able to go online and scoop out the latest and greatest in beauty is just so amazing, whether it’s through invested readers, dedicated bloggers, or fantastic PR people. Let’s not forget another group of beauty-minded people though. The experts!
