Our engagement party is going to be like a mini wedding. For most couples, it’s a celebration on a smaller scale. But for my family, the engagement ceremony may even be more important than the wedding day. With that said, this event is going to give me an opportunity to practice my DIY skills and test drive projects I might want to do for our wedding day.
It’s going to be a backyard party so the projects I want to do will be (hopefully) easy ones. I really just want to incorporate a couple personal touches. What do you guys think of these?
I’ve read a couple of DIY tutorials for custom water bottle labels (like the ones above) and they don’t seem to be that hard to do. The hardest part will probably be trying to create the template and then figuring out a way to keep them waterproof so that the ink doesn’t bleed.

Next on my project list are the party favors. Most Asian parties don’t come with favors, and most of my family members prefer to take home leftovers if they take home anything at all. I personally love the idea of giving something because it’s unexpected. And what better party gift to give then sweets? An edible take-home. ;)
While surfing Etsy, I came across favor bag toppers. The ones featured above are definitely more elaborate then anything I want to do. I think I would love for ours to have our names printed on them with a fun or sweet message to our guests. Maybe something like these?

The last DIY project I want to do seems like it’ll be an easy one – paper napkin rings. If we’re going to host our party with paper and plastic, we might as well dress it up right?

My coworker who’s handy with with the design programs is going to help me with all the designs. It’ll be up to me to provide the paper cutter and start working away. Let’s see if I can get all these done for 100+ guests in one weekend. Do you think I can do it?
