Five Blades and Seven Years Later, the Schick Hydro Silk Razor

It’s kind of hard to get excited about a razor nowadays. We’re not seeing any drastic changes like going from three blades to five blades anymore. That must mean companies are spending their time making subtle tweaks.

Perfecting something already good is not a bad way to go. In fact, my favorite razor brand Schick has invested seven years into their new Hydro Silk Razor ($9.49 US) to make shaving an easier and prettier task…

…starting right with the design. The bright blue rubbery handle is easy to grip and won’t slip, preventing cuts. Schick gives you an extra cartridge and a shower wall hook so that the razor doesn’t get lost amongst other bath products. Smart and convenient, the wall hook also makes your razor look like a nice piece of shower stall art. ;)

The white little dots along the top and bottom of the five blade razor head are Schick’s special moisturizing serum, which feels kind of cooling and gel-like. The water-activated serum helps the razor glide over the contours of my skin and makes it feel smoother and softer after shaving.

Although I wasn’t use to the sharpness and precision of five blades since I usually stick to three or four, I didn’t cut myself with the Hydro Silk. I love how much smoother of a shave I get, so from now on I’ll be buying the five-bladed Hydro Silk cartridges!
