I am such a lover of Bobbi Brown makeup, especially her gel liners and creamy lip colors. So I can’t for the life of me figure out how I’m not in love with Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Shadows.
As a part of Bobbi’s new Platinum Collection she released four new shades of Long-Wear Cream Shadows ($22 US), including Steel, a color I’ve been trying to get work on me for the past few days.
Described as a deep, cool brown, I played around with Steel (my first BB cream shadow) and tried to apply it in a couple of different ways.
Experiment #1: Apply with fingertips. What I like about cream shadows is the fact that they’re so easy to apply with your fingers (because it’s always more fun to play with your makeup, right? ). So I dipped my ring finger into my pot of Steel. The consistency was silky and soft but when I went to apply it onto my lids, the formula didn’t apply smoothly – it was almost like it had dried on my finger before I could work with it.
I picked up a bit more color to see if I just needed to pile on the product, but again, it didn’t smooth onto my lids, or even deposit that much color when I used a dab technique. I continued to layer and found that I could build the color, albeit slowly. Most of it appeared to just stay on my finger.
