For most, Memorial Day kicks off the summer season of barbecues and picnics and lazy days at the beach.  And with all of these outings come a substantial amount of time spent in the sun.

I’m no different.  This past holiday weekend, I spent a good 8 hours at the park on Sunday for a friend’s birthday barbecue.  Knowing that I was going to be out and about all day, I made sure to stick a tube of Bobbi Brown Treatment Lip Shine with SPF 15 ($22 US) in my jean pocket.

I gotta say, I love the texture and pigmentation of these lip shines!  I was wholeheartedly expecting a sheerer finish but my Treatment Lip Shine in Berry, a sassy, bright pink/red berry, is a great summer lippie when you want the finish of a lipstick but don’t want the heavy, weighed down look.

I’ll be completely honest, I hadn’t worn any gloss or lipstick in a week since I’d been nursing a cold (stuffy, runny nose – the whole bit!).  No one really wants to wear lip color when you’re rockin’ the uber chapped lip look.

Finally feeling well enough to wear make up again, it only took two swipes of my Berry Treatment Lip Shine to make me feel normal again.  It’s the shea butters, jojoba, and Avocado oils in the formula that feel like a drink of water for my lips.

And the SPF in it helps to protect against sun damage – making me feel that much better about not applying a regular lip balm all day

Today I’m feeling the spring in the air and am totally on board with the hot coral trend of the season.

Bobbi Brown Cabana Corals is an ode to coral lips with a wide offering of shades to suit every woman, whether you want something that leans towards gold, peach or pink.  You’ll definitely find a coral that you love.

This collection features five new lip colors in Bobbi’s Metallic ($22 US) and original Lipstick ($22 US) formulas.

I honestly love each shade for different look.  Cabo Coral is a rich color that really makes my lips pop.  I’m saving this pink-toned coral for those hot summer days baby!!

For my lip look today I layered Coral Glaze lipstick under Sunset Beach gloss.  The result is a warm and golden lip color that’s not to pale, like if I wore Coral Glaze alone.

The lipstick helps to keep the color long-lasting and a touch of gloss adds dimension, especially when the sunlight hits the shimmer in it.

In other news, I’m excited to start a marketing class at the UCLA Extension today!  And while I hate driving to LA, I’m super thankful that my company, whose offices are headquartered in Orange County, has agreed to let me work from our Beverly Hills office so that I don’t have such a daunting 4-hour total commute one day a week.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the drive doesn’t take longer than an hour and half.  Wish me luck on the commute, I’m heading out the door now!

I’m going gaga over the coral shades from Bobbi Brown’s new collection for spring, Cabana Corals.

I’m a self-proclaimed lover of pink tones for lips and cheeks.  But it seems that every time I add a bit of coral into the mix, it puts me in a different mood.. the mood to go on a beachy holiday!

Her Shimmer Bricks are to die for and this season she’s releasing not one, but two new compacts – Pink Quartz and Nectar ($38 US).  Since I already own Platinum Pink from a previous collection I can’t wait to check out Nectar (right) to give my complexion a peachy glow.

But what I’ve really got my eye on from the Cabana Corals collection are the lipsticks and Pot Rouge for Lips and Cheeks.

Cabana Corals will introduce three new shades of Metallic Lip Color ($22 US) that will light up your lips as well as two more shades of Bobbi Brown’s classic Lip Color ($22 US).

With two new shades for spring, I’m really looking forward to trying out Calypso Coral, the brighter coral shade of the two as those tend to pop to make me look a more fresh and alive.

Bobbi Brown’s new Makeup Face Lift Collection offers the basics and bare minimum for women to achieve that well-rested, bright-eyed look in 5 minutes flat.

In my opinion, every woman should master this look – it’s a necessity for those dreaded Monday mornings when you’ve snoozed the alarm one too many times, meeting the parents for the first time after a long red-eye flight, and it just plain comes in handy for those days when you just don’t have time.

As with most looks, the perfect bright-eyed and bushy-tailed look always starts with good skincare, says Sebastien Tardiff, Bobbi Brown Regional Director of Artistry in Asia.

From the Bobbi’s new Makeup Face Lift Collection, Tardiff advises women to prepare the under-eye area is with Extra Eye Repair Cream ($65 US) which immediately brightens, de-puffs, targets fine lines and visibly revives the eye area.

If you have dark under eye circles, or just need a little extra help some mornings, use the lightweight Tinted Eye Brightener ($38 US) in conjunction with Extra Eye Repair.  Tardiff notes, “This perfect duo delivers a very modern and flawless finish to the under-eye area, and looks great with or without foundation.”

For all the Asian women out there, Sebastien Tardiff offers up some advice for us as well.

Asian women appreciate well-groomed brows, which is why a Brow Pencil ($20 US) is essential for defining brows, which instantly gives your eyes a natural “lift.” Always make sure to start filling in the brows at the arch because it is the highest point and lifts the eyes.

A Tip from Tardiff: Eyebrow color always tends to warm up a bit on warmer Asian complexions, so pick a formula that is powder-based and wax-free for a color-true application that is also transfer resistant.

Finally, as Asian complexions tend to warm up colors on the skin, use cool pink-tone shades for lips and cheeks. Try Brightening Lip Gloss ($20 US) in Popsicle, a bright rosy pink, and Pot Rouge ($22 US) in Pale Pink, a bright pastel pink, for a pretty, natural looking glow.
