Mary Louise Parker Loves Jurlique

mary-louise-parker-and-jurlique.jpg

Some of you might have noticed that I’ve become extremely obsessed with Weeds over the past week or so. This Showtime hit featuring a pot-slinging suburban housewife, Nancy Botwin, is so comical and endearing, I’ve been watching the past 3 seasons for hours on end - a marathon, if you will.

Mary Louise Parker, who plays Nancy, is so adorable, I couldn’t help but be interested when I came across an article in July’s issue of Self magazine featuring her favorite things.

Among those, Parker loves Jurlique Citrus Shower Gel and Calendula-Lavender Hydrating Essence. “Jurlique products smell so fresh and soothing, you feel like you’re at the spa!” With that said, I can’t wait to visit my nearest Jurlique store on Fillmore Street in San Francisco to scope these goodies out.

Citrus Shower Gel ($22 US) has yummy ingredients like rosemary, lemon, and grapefruit that are sure to leave me feeling quite clean and refreshed after I get out of the shower. Calendula-Lavender Hydrating Essence ($38 US) is a product I’m not too familiar. The website says it’s a pre-treatment for the skin to resurface cells and relax pores. I think I can definitely use this for after the shower or exfoliating. At any rate, you can’t really go wrong with anything that smells of lavender, in my opinion.

Have you tried any of these Jurlique products? I’d love to get your take on them!

Get the Look: Jewel-Toned Accents

shanna-moakler_green-accents.jpg

I certainly miss the days of Meet the Barkers on MTV when we got to see Travis and Shanna absolutely in love with each other for all the world to see.

Now, the news I hear about them are few and far between however I just read an article on PageSix.com last week where ex-Mrs. Barker got into a cat fight with Kim Kardashian over Kim’s alleged involvement with Travis while the couple were married. While the article was a juicy tidbit of celebrity gossip, all I could think about afterwards was Shanna’s makeup in the article photo! Check out the subtle pop of teal on her lower lashline. It’s sassy and the look is super easy to do.

Try CoverGirl’s new Eye Enhancers 1-Kit Eyeshadow in Turquoise Tempest using a small rounded smudge brush. Dampen your brush by spritzing a little water to the bristles before picking up the color with it. This will help to intensify the shade even more and allow you to line the color precisely to the lashline.

Hope you all had a great weekend - mine certainly was fun-filled and now I’m exhausted. Hopefully I get a good night’s rest so that I can take on Monday with full force!

It’s been pretty hot in San Francisco this past week and when it’s so warm outside, I hate it when my makeup looks like it’s melting off my face. So if you’re like me, you’ll want to keep it as minimal as possible while still looking fresh and completely radiant.

Keep your makeup light and beautiful by playing down your eyes and lips with neutral colors and really turning up the volume on your cheeks for that ultimate sun-kissed look.

Look Radiant with MAC Strobe Lotion

lucy-liu_radiant-skin.jpg

Summer makeup is all about getting a natural glow and letting your inner radiance shine through. Lucy Liu’s complexion looks effortlessly flawless, perfect for a day in the sun.

To keep my makeup light for the season, I like to combine my regular foundation with a little bit of MAC Strobe Lotion. MAC Strobe Lotion has iridescent pigments in the formula to give my face a subtle, all over sheen.

Combine 2 parts foundation to 1 part Strobe Lotion, mix and smooth all over your face for a little coverage and to even out your skin tone. Set the foundation with translucent powder, then sweep some blush or bronzer on your cheeks and you’re ready for a perfect day out and about, basking in the sunshine! (more…)

Amanda Peet has been looking pretty amazing lately and I’m glad to see her back on the big screen. Check out how to steal her subtle and fresh look on Glam.com using Caudalie Tinted Moisturizer, $39 US, to get her flawless, natural complexion and Nars “The Multiple” Stick in Orgasm, $36.50, on your cheeks.

It’s a romantic comedy starring John Cusack (he can do no wrong since Say Anything) as a recently widowed science fiction writer who forms an unlikely family with Peet and a young boy he adopts who claims to be from Mars - really?

Cusack and Peet’s characters ignore some sage parenting advice from the widower’s sister (Joan Cusack) and gets more than they bargained for when a series of strange occurances lead them to believe that the kid’s Mars claim may be true! Watch the exclusive Martian Child trailer now and then check out The Martian Child Project where you can create an online time capsule to share your interests with others all around the world or re-discover it in 5 years to see what you buried oh-so-long ago.
