September Favorites: Green Beauty Picks

Essence of Beauty Botanical Body Wash Lavender

I used to be stricter about healthy eating, but nowadays I find moderation in a 70/30 “clean”/indulgent diet. Life’s too short to miss out on sweets and treats or crusty pizza each week!

When it comes to beauty though, I’m a lot more relaxed. I won’t pick a mediocre organic product over an amazing conventional one. I’m always actively looking for more natural products though. Take a look at what I’ve stumbled upon this month.

I’ve been doing early morning showers as I hit the gym before class this semester. The new Essence of Beauty Botanical Body Wash in Lavender ($9.99 US) is a soothing, relaxing addition to my shower caddy that lathers gorgeously.

Get the Look: Cheeky Bronze Glow

Bronzed and Beautiful Skin

Although lately I’ve been getting more obsessed with lippies (stay tuned for my thoughts on an amazing new one from NARS!), I’m a face product girl at heart. Nothing excites me more than the promise of glowy skin that takes perfect to the next level.

Often times though, my face makeup routine is really simple. I forgo foundation for concealer and powder on a daily basis. But when I want to step up my game for a fun night out with the girls or a dinner date, I like layering my favorite cheek products for a gorgeous finish that is guaranteed to last.

What’s in my Makeup Bag?

The Daily Cookie makeup bag

Day to day, my everyday makeup routine doesn’t change that much. After years of trial and error I know what works for my eye shape, so variety for me comes in the form of lippies and cheek products. I love mixing different blushes and highlighters for the prettiest effects for instance.

The products shown are just a snapshot of what I’m wearing and loving now, but pared down without the bit of “variety” that I mentioned above.

Picture This: See By Chloé Eau Fraîche

Like many beauty products, perfume is actually quite difficult to use up if you’re not wearing the same one everyday. It’s also very personal, so I tend to go through phases where I can’t get enough of one scent and then can’t stand it for a period.

Chloé is one of my favorite designers, but I had never really given any of the perfumes in the line a shot. See By Chloé Eau Fraîche ($78 US) is exactly what I imagine when I attempt to match the aesthetic of the See By Chloé brand to a scent.

Beautiful Design Makes the New NARS Brush Line Stand Out

NARS Brushes

To me, geishas are an intriguing source of fascination and inspiration. I wrote a research paper about them a few years ago, but they continue to interest me as a subject, and I hope to write a thesis about them in the future.

Of course when I first saw the new NARS brush line, the sleek designs instantly reminded me of black lacquer, like the kind that is ubiquitous in a geisha’s world. Naturally, the aesthetic speaks to me.
