Spotlight: Clinique Great Lips, Great Cause

clinique-great-lips-great-cause-set.jpg

Happy Friday, ladies (and gents)! EDIT: Just kidding!  Happy Thursday!  Being unemployed means I don’t know what day of the week it is!  :D

I’m so excited about today’s Pink Spotlight - Clinique’s Great Lips, Great Cause Lip Set is my personal favorite pink product for Breast Cancer Awareness Month that I’ve come across so far this year.

It’s been quite a while since I’ve owned a lipstick that came in one of those lip cases - I find it pretty old-school and reminds me of my mom back in the day when she carried one in her purse every where she went.

With that said, I think Clinique did a phenomenal job of giving us an updated look for its BCA-inspired set.  Great Lips, Great Cause Lip Set ($16.50 US) includes a chic, silvery lipstick case with a limited edition Colour Surge Butter Shine Lipstick in Ribbon Pink in a gorgeous metallic pink and bamboo-esque tube inside.

Allure Beauty 101 Event at Clinique

clinique-beauty-101-event.jpg

Last Thursday, a couple of friends and I attended Allure’s Beauty 101 Event at the Clinique counter of Bloomingdale’s,  complete with h’orderves of tuna tartare; mango, pomegranate and hibiscus refreshments, and mini chocolate desserts to learn about the new fall trends and how to get the look.

The event started off with a Beauty 101 demonstration with Allure Magazine’s Beauty Merchandising Director and Clinique makeup artist Dana as they talked the audience through how to create one of the season’s top fall trends, the smoky eye, on my friend Susan as their model.

With just 5 products in 5 quick minutes, Susan’s look was completed in a cinch.  Start by prepping the lids with a little bit of Clinique’s Touch Base for Eyes before applying new Colour Surge Eye Shadow Stay Matte in Dark Denim, a grayish navy shade, to the outer V.  Next, line your eyes heavily with Kohl Shaper for Eyes eye pencil in Black Denim and use a small brush to smudge out the liner.

Use a fluffy blending brush to blend out any harsh lines and then apply two coats of High Impact Mascara to your lashes.  Complete the look with Clinique’s new Long Last Glosswear SPF 15 in Guavagold.

Cool Off w/ Clinique Moisture Surge Face Spray

clinique-moisture-surge-face-spray.jpg

We’ve got a heatwave goin’ on in the Bay area today (well, more like this whole week!) with temps in the mid-80s in San Francisco and over 100 degrees inland. Holy mackerel! When it gets that hot, I always feel like my face is melting away. So to help my skin stay hydrated and cool, I’ve been taking advantage of my sample of Clinique Moisture Surge Face Spray Thirsty Skin Relief that I received in a gift with purchase not too long ago.

To use it, I spritz my face with a two pumps of the Moisture Surge Spray ($19.50 US) about a foot away from my skin and get instant relief from the heat. It has aloe in it which they say will help restore your skin’s moisture level.

I’m not too sure that this is any more or less effective than spraying a little water on my face but it does what it says and the travel size really came in handy while sitting in the casinos over the weekend, too. Air inside those buildings often get really dry and yucky with all the cigarette smoke lingering around.  That, coupled with a couple of margaritas, this helped to give me that refreshed feeling I was craving.

Overall, I probably wouldn’t invest in this product - although I’m lovin’ the little travel-friendly bottle. Once my Moisture Surge Face Spray is all out, I’m going to refill that baby up with bottled water to bring with me on-the-go.

How is your day going so far? It’s late Tuesday night for me right now so I’m heading off to bed. ‘Night!
