I’m kind of obsessed with all things bright right now, and I have a feeling it’s not coming to a halt anytime soon. The “product inspiration” spot on my desk that I talked about here is crammed with bordering-neon lacquers. And with the arrival of the Thakoon for NARS Nail Collection on May 1st, my imaginary creativity board is spilling over.

From left to right we have Amchoor (bright yellow), Ratin Jot (orchid purple), Lal Mirchi (Mandarin red), Kutki (powder blue), Koliary (cyan blue), and Anardana (Azalea pink). Don’t these colors look magnificently saturated and creamy, even just by going with their promotional photos? Imagine how they’ll look in real life!

Right now I’m really feeling Summery vibes. There seems to be a promise of warm sun and endlessly clear skies this year, and I hope I won’t be disappointed. After all, Spring beauty and fashion focused in on bright and happy looks that only created anticipation and excitement for what’s coming next.

If the Butter London 3 Free Nail Lacquers ($14 US) from their Spring/Summer 2012 Collection is any indication, I think everyone is going to be very pleased. I’m already inspired just looking at the beautifully appropriate colors in this five piece collection.

These are colors that will straddle both sides of the season and ease any nail wardrobe into a much welcome Summer.

It’s not a color that looks very appealing in the bottle, but Bossy Boots has a commanding, trendy presence. The flawlessly pigmented polish reminds me of food colors: pistachio and green tea. The dustiness of the light green gives a nod to Spring’s light green polishes with an edgier take.

With such a quirky name, I should have known Disco Biscuit would take me by surprise on the nails. The dark magenta raspberry is actually a jelly polish! The fuchsia flecks of shimmer look gorgeous suspended in the squishy semi-sheer finish. I’m wearing three coats here and my nail line is just barely visible, which is expected of a jelly.

I have a penchant for duochrome colors though I don’t own many. Knackered is a unique star in my stash. The purple-blue-grey-green-pink shifts are similar to Nubar Indigo Illusion, but the generous sprinkling of holographic particles is just magical. The polish veers on the sheerer side so I’m wearing three coats.

I must have taken over a hundred photos of Slapper, but I could not get the bright green based teal to photograph! The photo shown above portrays Slapper much too lightly and does not even convey that it is a teal shade. The stock photo of Slapper is pretty accurate though. Two coats was all I needed for bold nails.

Coral-melon pink shades are just so right for Summer. Trout Pout is a perfectly formulated version with a bright, almost neon finish. It’d be so fun to match to a lip color and would even make a lovely lip shade on its own. In fact Butter London sells Trout Pout as one of their glosses Lippy ($17 US)!

Seeing a brand create fan-based collections like Rescue Beauty Lounge makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. In a day and age when some companies can feel impersonal or faceless, things like attentive customer service and listening to customers really sets others apart.

Yeah!  Us ladies are heading out to Las Vegas this weekend for my future sister-in-law’s bachelorette party!!  So I’m spending the next three days out to the desert in style with goodies from Shop MAC and Cook MAC, new collections on counter now.
