Weigh-In: Week 4

week-4-weigh-in.jpg

No gain, no loss - I’m content.

I’m definitely not surprised by this at all since I didn’t try that hard to improve my eating habits or resist the urge to not eat 3 bagels with cream cheese in 3 days. If you know me, you know that these are one of my favorite foods on the planet. When I went to Noah’s last week to get some bagels to treat my team at work last Friday - I couldn’t help but eat two that day in order for me to save lunch money and then take the extra onion bagel that was left over home to eat on Sunday for brunch. What the heck was I thinking?? Granted, I didn’t consume as much of Noah’s low-fat whipped shmear as I normally would.

Just that alone sabotaged any chance I had a losing even 1/2 a pound. Oh well. Now I just won’t get to treat myself with a bagel until September - sound fair? ;)

On the bright side, I did keep up my end of the bargain as far as the activity goal I set for myself. On Sunday, my friends and I went to the local high school and played tennis (sort of) for about 2.5 hours. This was a pretty good workout for me, chasing tennis balls and whacking them as hard as I could over the net.

This weekend I’m going camping so I’m going to try to get in a nice hike and then hang out and fish with the Boyfriend and our friends. Hopefully we won’t be eating too much junk since I requested fruits instead of Oreos on the menu for our 3-day outing :)

Now for the food diary. Note that I didn’t write in this every day so I couldn’t remember what I snacked on (probably pretzels and plain croutons when I craved crunchy). Maybe you have a tip - when you crave savory, crunchy things, what do you tend to snack on besides chips?

Weigh-In: Week 3

week-3-weigh-in.jpg

Things are getting a little bit better this week; I’ve lost a total of 2.2 pounds so far. I think I could have done much better but I really indulged in the food over the weekend (hello, Garlic Festival?!) and drank with my friends nearly every night. I’ll spare the alcohol details, but won’t hold out on the food. My goal for this week is to incorporate one workout and eat more soups as you all have commented. I had a small bowl of this Vietnamese-style hot and sour soup on Monday and it was filling and delicious!

As for the workout, this Sunday the Boyfriend and I have a date with some friends to hit the tennis courts. I’ve never really played so I hope this workout will kick my butt.

Now for the food…

MAC Electro Flash “Odd Couple” FOTD

electro-flash-odd-couple-eyes.jpg

This morning I woke up feeling a little spunky and rejuvenated after a really (really) blah Monday and Tuesday so I decided to actually put some color on my face today.

I dug around my newly organized makeup stash (it probably won’t stay this way for long) to see if I could find something to spice up my life on this Hump Day! It didn’t take me long before I gravitated towards that purple pot of eyeshadow - it drew me in immediately.

MAC’s new collection, Electro Flash, gives us mineralized eye shadow duos that definitely helped to pick up my mood when I spied Odd Couple, a pot containing a bold purple half paired with a side of light bronze with purple veining. They say the shadows are extremely pigmented but I thought they had just the right amount of color.

My Weekly Weigh-In: It’s Not Good

week-1-weigh-in.jpg

I decided to do my weigh-ins every Wednesday - and here are my results from my last weigh-in on July 16th. That first week I think I did okay, as I was really aware of everything I was putting into my body. I mean look! I got down to 130.6, which means about a pound and a half of weight loss.

But for some reason, since last Wednesday, I’ve been eating crap and I just can’t resist. It’s so bad. Here’s the next installment of my food diary - all up-to-date. I definitely think I got in more fruits than I normally eat which is an improvement, but the alcohol consumption for the week is kinda bad. I think I gotta curb that, but hanging out with friends is so fun!

Wednesday, 7/16
Breakfast: 1 kiwi and whole wheat English muffin with 1 tbsp. cream cheese
Lunch: 1 lemon chicken breast, watermelon and 2 raviolis
snack: small slice apple pie with ice cream (it was our monthly birthday celebration at the office!)
Dinner: 2 Vietnamese crepes, 1 vodka and juice

Letting It All Hang Out..

healthy-body-challenge.jpg

So I’ve been thinking, really hard, about sharing more than beauty and my random rants with you. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been contemplating a diet of sorts. Not really to lose weight (well, maybe some), but to start evaluating what I eat and what I can do to improve my diet and health.

I’m almost 30, am nearly 5 feet tall, and weigh 132 lbs last time I checked (which was last Wednesday). That makes me borderline overweight (according to my doctor), so I thought it was high-time that I really got my head out of my 20s-I-can-do-and-eat-whatever-I-want mentality and really shape up to get to a healthier me.

Now I don’t know what kind of diets are out there or what I’d like to follow, so I thought my first phase in my diet would be what most people would consider a sensible and effective step and that’s to write down everything I eat and drink and then set goals for myself for the following week. I figure this is going to help me start weeding out the bad junk and start filtering in better foods into my diet. I don’t have a master plan, but I definitely invite you all to follow along and watch what happens.

If you want to check out my food diary from the past few days, (more…)
