It’s that time of year, ladies!  Last year when we hosted our very first beauty sale (check it out here!) it was such a success that we decided we just had to do it again!

The Daily Cookie invites you to the 2nd Annual Beauty Closet Sale charity fundraiser to benefit an organization that’s near and dear to me – the Down Syndrome Foundation of Orange County.

We will be selling brand new and gently sampled beauty goodies, from hair care to makeup items and more — all for $5 each! Last year we helped to raise over $1,100 which went to help create new classes for infants with Down Syndrome.

Find your favorite brands like MAC, Redken, Clinique, and Revlon and discover even more new brands to fall in love with.

Also at this year’s sale will be UVSOUL.com, an online boutique that features urban vintage fashions for the urban vintage soul.   10% of all their sales at this event will also be donated to DSFOC, yippee!

One of my beautiful bridesmaids and I woke up bright and early today to attend one of Crate & Barrel’s Wedding Registry events at our local store.  While you  might think that 9am is too early to venture out on a Sunday, Crate and Barrel really makes it worth your while.

At these Registry events, Crate and Barrel has experts on hand to demonstrate appliances, cookware, and assist with picking out home and other kitchen essentials.  Check out the frittata station above!  They also invite local vendors so that you can chat with photographers, florists, and bakers, allowing you to get even more out of the event.

My friend walked around for about an hour to sample tasty treats while going a little scan gun-crazy.  Here as some photos from our morning:

We were so full from sampling other goodies that I just didn’t have room for this sweet treat.  My lovely bridesmaid, however, took a card from this local vendor as an idea for a bridal shower (yay!).

It was definitely too early for beer but the idea of this machine is so cute, and much classier than an actual keg  I think they set out this for the guys as wedding registries tend to be a fun girl thing to do.

All in all, I think it was a really fun event.  I think I’ll attend another one in a few months, or whenever our registry needs to get updated.  The vendors and featured products may vary with each week making it helpful to meet new vendors or  experience new kitchen demos every time!

The concept of a salon that only does blowouts doesn’t seem off the wall.  But can you believe that this niche type of salon has only been around for a few years?

Drybar, the original blowout-only salon, just celebrated the opening of their latest Newport Beach location at Orange County’s posh Fashion Island shopping center.  The new salon is the newest of 6 current locations (more to come soon!) in southern California and we were lucky enough to attend the fabulous grand opening shindig last week.

The Newport Beach salon is cozy and has about a dozen or so chairs, all dedicated to hair blowouts only.  Drybar doesn’t offer any color or cut services – and we think the convenience of a salon where you know you can get in and out quickly and easily is awesome.

What’s also fun about Drybar is that they don’t just give you any ordinary blowout.  For $35, you can pick whatever style you’re in the mood for; it’s five different versions of you, whenever you want it.  Choose from:

- Manhattan: the original sleek and smooth look
- Mai Tai: messy and beachy
- Southern Comfort: big hair and volume
- Cosmopolitan: loose curls
- Straight Up: simple and straight

At the grand opening party, we got to see the stylists in action.  The final look was effortless, yet fabulous!

After my friend and I left the event, we couldn’t stop gushing about when we were going to have our next girls night out.  A visit to Drybar, followed by a night on the town makes for a perfect Friday night if you ask me!  I was pleased to see that they offer event coordination for just that occasion on their website!
