Little Steps for a Polished Look with Tarte

Tarte Clay

Through trial and error I’ve come to acknowledge that the key to achieving the polished look is investing in the time to lay down the prep work for a look that lasts. Any look can be polished for a short stint, but the kind of sophisticated look we want looks fresh and pretty even at 5pm.

Two little steps you can take that make a world of difference? Priming the eyes and grooming the brows.

What’s in my Makeup Bag?

The Daily Cookie makeup bag

Day to day, my everyday makeup routine doesn’t change that much. After years of trial and error I know what works for my eye shape, so variety for me comes in the form of lippies and cheek products. I love mixing different blushes and highlighters for the prettiest effects for instance.

The products shown are just a snapshot of what I’m wearing and loving now, but pared down without the bit of “variety” that I mentioned above.

The Summer Beauty Edit

Hum Runway Ready

Is it just me or did July fly by? I’m already back at the East Coast after my month-long internship at t+j Designs, but it seems like just yesterday that I landed in Seattle bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.

I guess being so busy and operating on a schedule has something to do with it, but I’m sad to see my favorite season gone so quickly. Of course, I couldn’t let the season go by without sharing some of my new beauty favorites.

Adding Definition with Napoleon Perdis Matte Eye Ink

Napoleon Perdis Matte Eye Ink

The past few times I’ve gone shopping, I’ve been on the hunt for a big floppy straw hat with a black band. I can envision myself wearing it all the time this Summer with huge cat-eye sunnies and fun, bold lip colors.

Something about this look says classic yet fun to me, and I can’t imagine it without the perfect winged eyeliner. My current pick has been the Napoleon Perdis Matte Eye Ink ($28 US.

Playing with Luminosity with the NARS Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow for Summer 2014

NARS Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow review

When it comes to eyeshadows, I like formulas that encourage luminosity and create a bright-eyed look. Naturally, I was beyond excited to see that NARS had come up with a new eyeshadow formula for Summer 2014 that promises both “luminous sheen” and intense color.

Releasing this July on narscosmetics.com, the NARS Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow ($29 US) will be available in 12 colors. The biggest draw for this particular product is that it is designed to be used both wet and dry to achieve different effects.
