It’s beginning to get warmer, and I’ve already noticed that my skin feels oilier. Not to worry though, this is about the time that I put away creamy face makeup and reach for powder or gel based products like the Per-fekt Skin Perfection Gel ($57.50 US).
With celebrity fans like Jennifer Love Hewitt, Reese Witherspoon, and Jennifer Hudson, I was expecting a lot from this all in one face makeup . I already suspected that I’d like the gel texture which usually feels lighter for me than richer liquid products.
If you take a look at what’s new and hot in skincare right now, you’ll notice a lot of the products are designed to brighten, which makes sense. We all want an angelic glow with a smooth and even skin tone for Spring/Summer when we can’t (the poolside) or don’t want (sticky, hot weather) to wear full coverage makeup.
Of course the makeup should follow suit. Youthful and natural, the Tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Illuminating Serum ($32 US) is meant for creating brightened looks.
Whenever I see a bronzer, I automatically think of its potential as a contouring powder. Obviously shimmery colors or ones that are too dark never make the cut. If I want to fake supermodel cheekbones, they have to look at least somewhat natural!
The latest in my lineup of cheek products is the Lorac TANtalizer Highlighter & Matte Bronzer Duo ($32 US), which features a bronzer I initially thought looked much too dark.
