I’ll admit that it’s been a long, long time since I’ve been to my local Prescriptives counter.  Back in high school, I used to use their Photochrome cream foundation and would be at the counter almost every other month (yes, the pricey make-up addiction started way, way back).

As I moved onto liquid foundation, I also moved onto other make-up brands and have not been back to Prescriptives ever since.  Luckily for me, the Prescriptives people were nice enough to invite me to their Spring 2009 Preview Event and I’ve since fallen back in love with the brand.

If you too haven’t been to the Prescriptives counter recently, here are five reasons to check them out:

My absolute favorite product from the line is the Custom Blend Lip Color.  I’m a sucker for lip glosses.  I carry at least four different shades in my handbag at all times.  Right in front of your eyes, the Custom Blend specialist can create the lip gloss in the shade of your heart’s desire.

I know there are several other brands out there that offer customable color solutions.  However, this is the first one I’ve heard of that lets you pick the flavor of your customized gloss.

There are nine flavors to choose from: Tropical, Bellini, Latte, Berry, Melon, Icy Mint, Cocoa, Meringue and Vanilla.  I custom created a mauvey-pink with Latte flavoring.  Which flavor would you choose?

With each collection, I start to love Prescriptives more and more.  From the first time I tried their Soft Spoken lip collection to my new favorite Super Line Preventor Xtreme, I now look forward to new products that come out.

Prescriptives’ Holiday Collection, AGLOW, is no different. For one, I love the packaging of their palettes!  The silvery and magnetic casing makes it unique as I’ve rarely owned a palette that wasn’t an actual snap case.

On Saturday I hosted a mani/pedi event to celebrate the blog-iversary and it was an amazing time! A few of my closest friends, along with a Daily Cookie reader, and I all got our nails and toes did, drank a little vino, and best of all - grubbed!

The ladies at Lavande on Polk Street in San Francisco (did you hear that Natalie Portman was there just last weekend?) let us take over their shop and even cleared off a section of their shoe display so that we could set up refreshments. I really wished you could have all been there - we munched on mini roast beef sandwiches, caprese on crostini, a couple of cheese and salami platters, refreshing fruits and cookies to satisfy our sweet tooths.

Fall collections are starting to pop up as we begin to countdown the last weeks of summer. With that, I have to admit that I’m really likin’ this model for Prescriptives’ Daring collection for fall. Doesn’t she look a lot like Cindy Crawford, one of my favorite supermodels from the late 80s and 90s?

This is definitely a trend that I’m noticing with this season’s makeup - a throw back to haute 80s makeup with deep browns emphasized on the eyes and early 90s matte (check out MAC’s Cult of Cherry coming soon!)
