Warm Up for Summer with Coral Blushes

Around this time last year, I didn’t think of myself as a coral blush-wearin’ kinda gal. I owned a lot of pink shades and was perfectly content with my collection.

But something happened this spring, my favorite beauty brands turned out a ton of pretty coral blushes and I couldn’t help but have a change of heart. Here are a few of my personal picks from recent collections that will transition you from spring to summer flawlessly.

Go Green: Smashbox Mother Earth Palette

It’s Earth Day tomorrow and although I didn’t do a huge feature on eco-friendly beauty, I did find one beauty palette that was worthy of an honorable mention: Smashbox’s new Mother Earth Palette.

Smashbox Mother Earth Palette ($45 US) goes totally green with four eye shadow shades and one cheek color made from certified organic ingredients. Not only that, the recyclable compact features a wood look and is made of sustainable materials, including eco-friendly ink! Now how about that? The only thing is, there’s no mirror inside which makes it less practical, but I can get over that.

The colors featured in the palette play well together and have nice, soft textures. The brown matte was the most difficult to work with but then again, I find that lots of mattes err on the finicky side.

A Peachy Day with Smashbox Muse

After sporting Lancôme Piha Black for most of the weekend I definitely needed something light and bright to put a new pep in my step.

Today I played around with some new goodies from Smashbox’s Spring 2009 Muse Collection and fell in love wth Muse Blush Rush in Masterpiece ($24 US).

Brand new to the line up from Smashbox, Masterpiece is a warm, peachy coral blush that reminded me a lot of my old fave MAC Peachykeen but without the shimmer. I can definitely see myself wearing this often in the spring and summer, it just warms up my complexion.
