Does Aveda Dry Remedy Beat the Brittle?

With the cold weather, I’ve been more prone to blow-drying my hair to prevent myself from catching the sniffles.  But with lots of blow-drying comes brittle hair that’s been losing its sheen from too much heat.

In hopes to help my mane’s current state of drab, I tried out Aveda Dry Remedy Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner ($24 US each).

Containing buriti oil (from palm trees that grow in wet areas in tropical South America) and promegranate for moisture, I love that the exotic moisturizing ingredients are combined with more traditional scents like rose geranium, ylang ylang, and a hint of vanilla.

Dry Remedy Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner claims to improve dry hair by up to 63%, but for me it fell short.  My hair still feels a little coarse and even a bit weighed down.  Normally I wash my hair every other day but with these, after a day and a half I’m feeling like the grease fairy is coming to visit.

It may be because I have fine hair therefore the oils are weighing it down.  If you have thicker or coarser strands this collection might work well for you as there are tons of positive reviews on the Aveda site.

The Bottom Line: For me, Aveda Dry Remedy Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner doesn’t beat the brittle but it smells great – floral and earthy but not over the top.

Feelin’ Achy Breaky – Not My Heart, Just My Neck

Yesterday I was watching Planet Earth, you know that series from BBC and The Discovery Channel from last year?  Well, I was laying on the couch musing over penguins keeping their young underneath their fat pouches, polar bears sliding around in the snow, and oohing and ahhing over the amazing Blu-Ray picture.  When I finally got up, I had this major crick in my neck.

Despite a couple of efforts from the Boyfriend to massage it out, today it’s still bothering me and I can’t figure out what to do to help it.  I took an Aleve but apparently drugs aren’t working on me today – LOL!

Hopefully, an afternoon of just relaxing and no chores will do the trick.  Keep your fingers crossed for me!  :)
