Back in high school, Bath & Body Works and Victoria’s Secret body splashes were all the rage. Who could forget Country Apple and Pear Glacé? Certainly, not I!
My favorite old-school scent had always been Victoria’s Secret Garden Body Splash in Freesia. I love the smell of light florals; it’s so romantic and really suits my personality, even after all these years.
Now, a new freesia makes its way onto the scene and has once again, stolen my heart.

Indian summers are the norm in San Francisco, but up here in South Lake Tahoe, where I’m spending the next few days helping my mom with her business, summer is in full swing.
This morning, I was looking for ways to translate the subtle sparkle from the lake and tinges of gold in my makeup seemed to be perfect for the way life makes me feel when I’m here.
I took inspiration in Stila’s new Indian Summer collection featuring new goodies with real 24K gold infused into the products. The result is a light, summery look that sparkles just enough to illuminate my face, but doesn’t go overboard into a scary world of bling.

Stila 24K Golden Noir Smudge Pot ($2o US) is a fabulous edition to my collection of gel eyeliners. To the touch, the consistency is a little softer and more mousse-like than those of Bobbi Brown and MAC.

Anyone’s who’s looked in my purse knows that I am always carrying at least 5 or 6 lipsticks and gloss at any one time.
I always need a variety of shades so that I can be prepared for any situation, any time of day. Need to touch up at the office after lunch? Check. Want to add a little sass for happy hour drinks to with the team? Check. Impromptu dinner date with the Boyfriend? All set!
In just one tube, AVON’s new SpectraColor Lipstick
($9.50 US) delivers seven shades that can change your look whenever you want and for any occasion you need it for.

SpectraColor Lipstick contains a light and dark color formula that dispenses a certain amount of each shade depending on which level you choose. The lower the number, the more of the lighter formula comes out; the higher, the darker and more dramatic the shade.

The International Makeup Artist Trade Show was originally created for professional makeup artists. With that said, there were some vendors at IMATS that sold products that.. well, we’ll just say aren’t appropriate for day-to-day situations.
I saw a lot of interesting booths that cater to the special effects side of of the makeup biz, from body art to gruesome and life-like creatures from another world.

At the event, I saw some artists working on body painting . I must say, it’s pretty amazing to see what can be done with it. Grex, an airbrush body painting company, was making the man above look very contoured and muscular. The overall look had a sculptural, hard superhero effect. Grex even attached the white Mohawk to the guy’s head!
