Some lipsticks are like spoiled children, very difficult to deal with but ultimately (hopefully) rewarding. The DHC Premium Lipstick GE ($19 US) is more like a quiet, smart kid sitting at the kitchen table reading a book.
Manageable and not fussy at all, these lipsticks have an A+ in my book for their pretty and buildable color. DHC even says they’re age-defying with line-fighting ingredients like olive oil and vitamin A, though I can’t comment on that statement. I do know that they feel very moisturizing and apply smoothly without any drag.

Anyone else feel anxious at the prospect of photos? My sister is a photographer and always reminds me of tips to make myself look more flattering on camera, but even so I always feel a little awkward.
Though the anxiety never goes away, ensuring that my makeup looks good helps me feel a little better. When I know that I’ll be taking photos, nothing helps face makeup look its best than a layer of foundation primer.

I remember being really excited when I was a child about discovering that Snickers, my favorite candy bar at the time, could be bought as an ice cream. Then I saw that a lot of my favorite candies like Reese’s had ice cream counterparts and my young mind was blown.
Nowadays I’m not so surprised to see companies expand into different forms of their product or brand. What does surprise me is when this translation is done well. The NARS skincare line is a perfect example.

To finish off our coverage of NYFW A/W ’14, we have Alice + Olivia! Unfortunately, backstage access to cover the beauty looks was very limited so that by the time I was able to get inside, the models were already leaving to get dressed for the presentation. The good news is that I have photos of the presentation to share, so you can get a look at the beautifully done hair and makeup.
The set was fairy-tale themed and the hair was a dream-like vision of volume that complemented the doll-like makeup perfectly. TRESemme was in charge of the hair while Stila Cosmetics created the makeup look.

Being alone in a big city can be an intimidating experience, but personally I enjoy having the freedom not to have to compromise on my schedule. Walking around NYC and taking the subway or buses was a great experience to do alone for the first time this Fashion Week.
By now, I am much more comfortable recognizing and visualizing where certain places, like Midtown or Soho are. Of course, with covering trends backstage at New York Fashion Week, I knew my way around Columbus Circle and Lincoln Park pretty well. Moving on, check out what beauty trends are upcoming at Vivienne Tam.
