I have a special event coming up this weekend that I’ve been looking forward to for weeks. I haven’t had the opportunity to get dressed up and fancy in a while, so I’m looking forward to pulling out the heels and little black dress.
As for my makeup, I’ll be making good use of the Temptu Flawless Complexion Kit in Poppy Red ($170 US). The brightly colored system is part of their Kaleidoscope Color Collection, which comes in four other vibrant colors for Spring 2014.

I’m studying museums in one of my classes and went to the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston fairly recently. The Nick Cave exhibit, featuring his “soundsuits,” is on display until May 4th and is definitely worth checking out. Costumey and visually kaleidoscopic, I found myself really inspired by the textures and colors of his pieces.

As much as I love the convenience of having so many brands under one roof when I’m shopping at Sephora or a department store, I treasure the shopping experience I have at freestanding boutiques.
The most noticeable difference between the two would be the employees, who are much more passionate and knowledgeable about the company and line at a boutique. Little perks like samples or a visually engaging window display are just perks to the actual people in the store that embody the shopping experience.

This Summer I’m going to be all over the States. I’ll be in Massachusetts for most of it, Seattle for a month for my internship and then home in California for another month before heading back to school.
It’s going to be a hectic, new experience since I usually stay home for the entirety of Summer. Why go anywhere when you live in Southern California and can drive ten minutes to the beach?

Casually pulling her lipstick out of her chic cognac leather tote, my friend refreshes her lipstick anytime and anywhere. She never feels the need to use a mirror unless it’s already conveniently handy.
She’s less concerned about the precision of her look, because she pulls off her beauty with an impression of cool insouciance. As for me, I would never trust myself to fix any of the makeup on my face without some sort of reflective surface.
